I thought his acting was stilted, and cliche’d.
It’s not that I haven’t seen them...but there was a reason he won an Oscar very, very late in his career.

It’s obvious you haven’t seen the scope of his movies over many many years!
He can bring tears with just a small look, or a catch in his voice.
He loved America!....He was a man’s man!....and a great actor!
You are very unsuited to critiquing acting. To critique acting you must actually study the art for, at least, over 20 years, while watching the greatest theater and film. Then, perhaps, get involved on the subject - even in a long term amateur way.
What evidence do you have that the comment posted earlier (which was a private comment) was written by...er, Dalton Trumbo or some other left wing writer? Or is that just a fantasy borne out of nothing?
