They’re not for large families.
But for singles and couples, they’re ideal.
Live free of debt and live a simpler life.
Its an American ideal that goes back to Henry David Thoreau.
No it’s not. It’s a sad reality that the traditional American Dream is fast-becoming obsolete and that the marketing strategy for these micro-apartments is to make it seem hip, smart and cool to minimalize expectations in America. Measurements of success have never been so dumbed down.
But but but the American ideal is two people in 5000 square foot at $200 per foot!
At different times in my life, I would have loved one. Mandating large cars and houses would be no less totalitarian than mandating small ones. And they still consider themselves conservatives?
Humans competed to become Earth's top super predator not by killing animals but by killing their neighbors. The only way super predators can live in high density is via authoritarian control. As density increases, so must the rules, regulations, and restrictions. That is why most city slickers learn to vote communist. For humans, living unnaturally like insects is not a simpler life.
As does having your mother bring your meals to you and take your laundry to wash.
There is really no reason for these apartments in this area. This is not New York City.
