A Texas grand jury returned indictments Tuesday against 106 of the 177 people who were arrested after a shootout between cops and members of two motorcycle clubs left nine people dead at a Waco restaurant in May.
The McLennan County grand jury returned true bills accusing the 106 suspects of engaging in organized criminal activity, with the underlying offenses being murder and aggravated assault, District Attorney Abel Reyna said Tuesday night in Waco.
Charges against the 71 other suspects weren't presented Tuesday but will be "at a later time," Reyna said.

Wow and read all the info on all of them all in one day, what a amazing grand jury.
Just what they will do to all of us when we cross them. Shades of things to come. Next time they will do it by the thousands..... Then they came for..........US
The article refers to 177 arrested, and 106 indicted. Is there any estimate of how many were there that went away before the arrests started, or simply were not arrested because they were sitting down or not doing anything? They might all be witnesses.
how the @@#$# does the RICO statute apply here?
unless they are on tape discussing pushing narcotics, extortion, murder...but then that would be the police discussing those things.
anybody ever see Serpico?
The state of Texas has this - Texas organized crime law.
And, from that law, here's what the probable cause affidavits claim to be the basis for the arrests
"Criminal street gang" means three or more persons having a common identifying sign or symbol or an identifiable leadership who continuously or regularly associate in the commission of criminal activities.
Do not need a steenkin' tape. Just find them signs and symbols.
Yet the Mohammedans can meet and openly indoctrinate their members to murder!
Ah yes, looking at that link showing these nice upstanding citizens makes me warm and fuzzy all over. Not a normal looking one in the group. Would either of you fellas let your daughter alone with any of these guys?
So you would criminalize "abnormal" appearance? How very Taliban of you.
My sister, step sister, and her son. The son is a dope head, he got busted. They charged them with organized crime. No murders, just a stupid teenager, and an oppressive legal system.
To generate revenue and oppress!
They go hand in hand. I wouldn’t hire any of these guys to clean out my septic tank.
So the rule of law takes a back seat to your personal preferences. Think that one all the way through.
Anyone who travels within 100 miles of Waco Texas is insane.
This town should starve.
Your tagline was written by a heroin junkie. Maybe you should be indicted too!
Drive-by one liner poster won’t engage when challenged. Posts one liner and, drives away.
Yes, next time I’m involved in a violent biker brawl. Sounds fun.
The indictments weren't made public, and the identities of the 106 suspects weren't released. From your link, many of those indicted have been identified. I'd like to read a few of the indictments.

John Wilson, the president of the McLennan County Cossacks, and his son, Jacob Wilson, were both indicted Tuesday. Wilson said that he had "full confidence" neither he nor his son would be convicted and that he would refuse a plea bargain if offered. The indictment "doesn't mean much," he said, adding he believes that since the indictments were done in such a short amount of time that they were "a cookie-cutter deal."
Reyna was likely emboldened by the decision in the Pilkington and Weathers cases (Tenth Court of Appeals Case No. 10-15-00218-CR), and also, as a matter of law, an indictment represents a finding of probable cause a crime was committed. The challenge to indictment comes in the trial process, whereas a challenge to accusation can be had in an examining trial. Once indicted, examining trial can no longer be obtained, and bond conditions can be maintained - that is, there is no right to have bond and bond conditions lifted.
The way I see it, this move is just kicking the can a little farther down the road.
I see that Clendennen was indicted. That ought to get Broden's knickers in a knot.
And, still waiting for a decision from Texas' highest criminal court on the gag order. The case has been submitted for decision for over a month now.
They'd only need to see a little bit of it, enough to establish that there was a gunfight and deaths. Most of those charged (maybe all of them) are charged with the same thing they were accused of, conspiracy. So, much of the evidence is in the nature of establishing an association between the person charged, and a motorcycle gang or club.
Just saying, I doubt the grand jury saw any more evidence than has already been presented at examining trials and similar legal proceedings.
On the legal theory being pressed, there is no need to be involved. If you are associated with a group, and somebody else in that group commits a crime, then you are a criminal too.
