Ben Carson's woe-is-me whining about media scrutiny is more than just a sorry spectacle. It shows the extent to which a culture of victimization has infected the conservative movement.
"There's no question I'm getting special scrutiny, because there are lot of people who are very threatened,â Carson said in a "Face the Nation" interview Sunday. "The whole point is to distract, distract the populace, distract me."
Thatâs rich, given how Carsonâs own mouth has proved to be such a powerful weapon of mass distraction. His "personal theory" that the pyramids of Egypt were built by the biblical patriarch Joseph as grain silos--rather than by Egyptians as pharaonic tombs--is but one example.... Most absurd of all is Carsonâs assertion--supported by an amen chorus of prominent conservatives--that Republicans are generally subjected to tougher vetting than Democrats....

What a load.
So the candiates fight back after being smeared by the gutter politics of the DC crowd and this author wants to argue “shut up and take it GOP”
Victims would be those who don’t fight back. What this author is crying about is the GOP candidates are fighting back.
Wow, I see this author is mentally defective. That not an argument, that is a plain statement of fact that any rational people can see.
Just as there is overwhelming evidence that the over representation of certain favored minorities in the criminal classes is due to behavior and not racism and the MSM refuses to see it.
You fools are tiresome boobs.
You can have your have love fest for the Washington Compost and liberal smear machines,
But you smell like it and stink this nice place up.
“What is it with this guy, anyway?”
Easy call
He is a syndicated, newspaper columnist, who is a doctrinaire Marxist, and he hates white people.

Oh I see. So which left wing clown posse do you work for? Hillary’s or Bernie’s?
A real Conservative would know Eugene Robinson is one of the most moronic, incoherent clowns in DC. They would not be taking his idiotic drivel seriously as you do.
I prefer a candidate like Trump — he just rolls up his sleeves and punches back instead of whining that the librul media is meeeean to him.
This guy conveniently has his head in the sand. Conservatives are exposed to far more media bias than liberals ever are. It’s just a plain and simple fact.
Oh, and BTW WP, don't moan about Republicans finally fighting back at the decades long obvious liberal media bias. We have Just Begun to Fight!
I can't let this pass:
From the article: "Carson . . should be no surprise that the thorough vetting given to any major presidential candidate comes as a shock."
Hey WP, did you ever think of vetting Obama prior to 2008? Oh, I forgot, the communist community organizer automatically got a pass from you and the rest of the ultra-liberal MSM.
Washington Post gives NYT a run for its money as the most facile bunch of liars and sleazebags in the US.
Tawana Brawley was a victim.
Rodney King was a victim.
Trayvon Martin was a victim.
Michael Brown was a victim.
But Ben Carson is not a victim.
Got it.
Look, I remember when the Washington Post boys made a big deal out of discovering Bill Ayers co-wrote Obama’s dreams book... and how they debunked the lies in the book about people who really didn’t exist except as ‘composites’...
Oh wait, that didn’t happen - - the MSM didn’t bother looking too closely at ‘THE ONE’... They covered for Obama. Just like they cover for Hillary and any other person with a D by their name...
Why? Because the press - being biased democrats - they fear offending democrat insiders who feed them their stories...
Shame on the MSM... Shame on them for covering Democrats and Republicans by different standards.
The author of this liberal scribble is a moron.
“I don’t mind getting wet, but don’t p!ss down my neck and tell me it’s raining.”
Josey Wales.
Carson is not one of my top two candidates (that’s Cruz or Trump), but I am still disgusted by how dishonest this characterization is.
There was no media scrutiny at all on either the substance or the trivia of Obama’s record, just unquestioning adoration. With Carson, there is no media scrutiny on the substance of his record, just on trivia, and the media consistently get even that wrong (probably by design).
Did he lead well as Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital? It’s a great question and fully relevant, but it’s not asked because the answer would not fit the narrative.
What were his grades at Yale? At University of Michigan Medical School? It’s a good question and somewhat relevant, but it’s not asked because the answer would not fit the narrative.
I don’t care whether he received a written letter of assurance from West Point (which is consistent with his biography and would not be retained in the absence of a completed application) or a written letter of acceptance (also consistent with his biography but not with West Point records), or just a verbal commitment that he would be accepted (almost a guarantee that he would have been given that guarantee if he expressed interest in West Point, and that is also consistent with the actual words of his biography).
Dr. Carson is a victim of the classic media firing smear, where they throw mud hoping the jackals will circle and attack in their wake. The biased media are absolutely disgusting, and their claim that this is mere “scrutiny” does not hold water.
