The president of the University of Missouri system resigned Monday amid criticism of his handling of student complaints about race and discrimination.
President Tim Wolfe said Monday that his resignation is effective immediately. The announcement came at a special meeting of the university system's governing body, the Board of Curators.
The complaints came to a head over the weekend when at least 30 black football players announced they would not participate in team activities until Wolfe was removed or stepped down.
For months, black student groups have complained of racial slurs and other slights on the overwhelmingly white flagship campus of the state's four-college system. Frustrations flared during a homecoming parade Oct. 10 when black protesters blocked Wolfe's car, and he did not get out and talk to them. They were removed by police.
Black members of the football team joined the outcry on Saturday night. By Sunday, a campus sit-in had grown in size, graduate student groups planned walkouts and politicians began to weigh in.

SJW ?
What an over educated, spineless fool this university president seems to be.
"How did they write such fantastic essays with such little feet?"
The barbarians win.
The fascist PC Police ruin another person and career.
The Obama race war is fully ignited.
I ignited quite the Sh-storm on Facebook over this. :)
Basically, the PC police have pushed out the college president for having the audacity of being white.
Bunch of crybabies. And they call themselves football players???
Bear in mind that Ferguson is just a little over 100 miles from Columbia. Thuggery spreads like a cancer. I feel for the legitimate students that are there for an education and have to be exposed to socialist/Marxist social engineering which in turn only blazes the trail to the threshold of hell.
Michael Sam picked as new president of The University of Missouri.
These extortionists need to be told a few home truths in the bluntest of Anglo Saxon terms.
Let’s hope so.
Ammo ain’t been rushing out the door for nothing.
Columbia does not want a repeat of Ferguson, with thousands of unemployed millennials pouring in to burn it down.
What about the athletic department, standing in unity with the team?
Hope the new President, fires them first.
I know the coach stood with the protesting team members. Did the Athletics Director?
There was an article from ESPN posted here about players not supporting the protest, but of course you won’t hear much about that.
Naggers?
What a coward.
Same thing is going on at Yale:
And I would guess more protests are coming to a campus near you. This is not spontaneous, it is highly organized and it is the left trying to push a narrative. So called campus rape epidemic, female wage gap, white privilege etc....These are agitators looking for any issue that will stick to a wall. I can’t find a single news source that can articulate exactly what they are protesting in Missouri.
In the end what have the protestors won? Nothing. Their lives aren’t better, people don’t respect them and they have done nothing to improve the future. Students at Harvard a few years ago ousted a big liberal president who slipped and mentioned that females and males have different interests. So they installed another liberal president and nothing changed. Males and females still have different interests and there is always a big liberal lying in wait to be university president.
Obviously the University President of Missouri was not up to the task and was weak. He couldn’t even stand up to a fake crisis and whiny spoiled students. If the football team really wanted to affect change and improve their lives all they had to do was attend classes and study.
Personally, I think the University President resigned because he was starting get complaints from people who have the biggest influence: the alumni and the boosters. When these two groups threaten economic action, something had to give, and the President resigned.
Too bad he didn’t have the intestinal fortitude to abolish football and dismiss all the players!
The Ferguson crowd and outside money and agitators are involved.
