Why is music, or any of the fine arts, more ‘attendant’ to the educational process than athletics...?

Athletes, in general, are not honor students. Our daughter was an honors student in high school, and was accepted to eight major universities based on her academics, not because she could throw a ball! I am sure that there are exceptions, but I will bet you that there are not many academically rated football players around. Colleges and universities don’t need to be the “ farm teams” for professional athletics, particularly when they drain resources that should be put into academics.
