"Mystery" Ballistic Missile Test Lights Up Sky Over California, Leads To Social Media Panic
Zero Hedge ^ | November 8, 2015 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 11/08/2015 2:33:43 PM PST by Navy Patriot

Late on Friday there was a surprising announcement by the Federal Aviation Administration according to which night-time flights to and from Los Angeles International (LAX) would avoid flying over the Pacific Ocean to the west of the airport, the second busiest in the US.(snip)

...thousands of reports from Los Angeles and San Diego flooded social networks with reports of a mysterious bright light in the sky that sent Californians into panic. The San Diego Union-Tribune said police were inundated with calls "reporting everything from a flare to a comet to a nuclear bomb".

The newspaper said the light was seen as far away as the states of Nevada and Arizona. CBS-LA reported sightings in San Francisco, 380 miles (600km ) to the north.

It’s Tyler “the sky is falling” Durden, of course he’ll pick the wrong source to cite, even though the right one is right there in the copy.

People in the Obama Era are blissfully unaware and totally unconcerned about minor little issues like the underwater submarine launch of an intercontinental ballistic with multiple nuclear warheads -until it's too late.

They think that it is noble and oh so cool that Obama has gutted our phenomenal missile defense programs and stalled any deployment of a practical defense network to protect the United States and Europe from a nuclear first strike in an era of nuclear weapons and ballistic missile proliferation to axis of evil terrorist states.

At the same time Obama has gutted and degraded our nuclear and conventional arms used as a deterrent capability from a surprise first strike from any potential enemy.

Obama has willfully made the world a much more dangerous and unstable place, he has allowed terrorist states to continue their nuclear weapons development a proliferation programs, and he has blocked all attempts to deploy our anti ballistic missile defense shield.

Lucky for us this was just a test.

Next time it may be for real

The American people will then have a short time to reflect on their feckless irresponsibility in election someone like No Drama Obama to two terms as President and reflect upon the horrendous magnitude of their errors and engage in the requisite wailing an gnashing of teeth as they contemplate their impending doom.

By then it will be too late and who is to blame will no longer matter much because mushroom clouds do not differentiate between Progressives and conservatives or the informed vs the misinformed or uninformed.

This terror will be shot lived and over quickly because the time of flight of a Ballistic Missile launched from half way around the world is only about 20 minutes from launch to nuclear detonation over the target areas.

It was NOT a missile from any asset of a foreign state or power.

Iran is firing missiles at LA?

No, Iran is channeling firing missiles at LA, using a Ouija board and a flying carpet.

Unless you actually know that, you don't actually know that. After all, it's not like such a thing would be admitted. Not even Obama could ignore the reaction if this was a Chinese or Russian launch.

And... the military is claiming LA ocean airspace for days more after "their" launch is supposedly over. Which doesn't make sense, unless they're tracking someone else...

Everybody got to see it, and we had the best seats.

I'm sure the Chinese, Russians, Norks, and Iranians paid close attention.

Everybody is free to draw their conclusions - nothing else needs to be said.

You mean the airplane contrail that all the valley girls who have never seen a rocket launch mistook for a missile?

There’s no explosive warhead on a test missile, the damage it could do is minimal since for all practical purposes your only launching a large guided brick.

Thank Goodness Free Republic is not classified as “social media.” We certainly don’t want any alarmism, panic, supposition, conspiracy-mongering, or freaking out here.

Look at a kalifornia map. Vandenberg AFB and Point Mugu are west of the southern kalifornia population centers.

They launch the missiles to the west where they overfly nothing but ocean.

The missiles have a comand destruct package (unique to test missiles only) that destroy the missile if it deviated from a designated safety corridor.

The San Diego news this morning topped the charts on lunacy. They suggested that some people told them it was a cosmic worm hole although the news did state the Navy "Claims" it was a SLBM test.

Really, who in the room here has seen or can identify a worm hole by sight?

Unless you actually know that it was a chinese missile, then you don't know that either.

The missile plume alone last night at one time covered 1/3 of the horizon in a bright exhaust plume that was spherical and typical of high altitude phenomena associated with missile launches. The supposed missile you are talking about never exhibited any characteristics remotely similar to last night's display.

I was part of the team that launched Minuteman ICBM FOTE shots in the late 70's and 80's from Vandenberg AFB. I have launched my share some that exhibit the "twilight phenomenon".

The phone calls and questions from the public and the "learned press" we had to answer after every such event would stupify you. They only proved why we , as a country, post so low in worldwide science scores for our high schoolers.

I'm talking about last night's display being fired from a Chinese or Russian sub, versus an American one. But the TYPE of missile would be the same.

In ‘77 I was on an Oakland to Burbank flight at sunset when a missile went up from Vandenberg. Roman candle: what a sight!

It was a UPS cargo flight. They even have the flight #. Unless you listen to Alex Jones, that is . . . .

“They warned the Russians and the Chinese, why didn’t they tell their own citizens?”

Probably don’t want a bunch of Greenpeace types trying to foul things up.
