Legendary US Army Commander Says Russia Would "Annihilate" US In Head-To-Head Battle
Zero Hedge ^ | 7 Nov 2015 | Tyler

Late in September, we brought you "US Readies Battle Plans For Baltic War With Russia" in which we described a series of thought experiments undertaken by The Pentagon in an effort to determine what the likely outcome would be should something go horribly "wrong" on the way to landing the US in a shooting war with Russia in the Balkans.

The results of those thought experiments were not encouraging.

Who’s the legendary Army commander? I don’t see him.

The Baltics against the Russians as second most likely war region???

I had heard of an imaginary land called “Korea” but thankfully that place does not really exist.

For more than a year, ominous rumors had been privately circulating among high-level Western leaders that the Soviet Union had been at work on what was darkly hinted to be the ultimate weapon: a doomsday device. Intelligence sources traced the site of the top secret Russian project to the perpetually fog-shrouded wasteland below the Arctic peaks of the Zhokhov Islands. What they were building or why it should be located in such a remote and desolate place no one could say.

A lighter more agile strategy is the way to go. It worked perfectly when the British paratroopers landed on top that Panzer Division at Arnhem.

COL Macgregor came down to Fort Lee, VA, to speak to my Command and General Staff College class last October/November. Fascinating guy with a lot of interesting contrary thinking as compared to what you normally see/hear from the brass.

He told us that Russia’s involvement in Ukraine wasn’t our problem (”It will be Putin’s ulcer.”) and that ISIS is generally a bunch of clowns in pick-up trucks who aren’t worth the time or effort on our behalf.

His real concern was Iran due to a real military capability and significant asymmetric capabilities as well as a rapidly developing nuclear program.

It’s not a hat trick. If we had only spent the time and money on research and engineering instead of Iraq...

The only good thing about war, IMO, is an interesting unveiling of secret weapon systems and rapid development of even more advanced ones.

This may be our last opportunity to witness such as, "the next war will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein

Any infantry armed with a Stoner designed rifle versus the current Kalashnikovs in 5.45 would be rolled up and cut down. I have no doubts about that.

And while that was happening (the annihilation of our forces in E. Europe), the Chinese and Russians would be sinking our carriers in the Pacific, China would invade Taiwan, and the North Koreans would move on to South Korea with Chinese and Russian air support.

You left out that that would be his excuse for cancelling the election or transfer of power because the nation was in a state of crisis.

I fully expect it.

He’d likely do it even if Hillary is elected - God forbid.

Yeah just like the Iraqis slaughtered us with their AKs in both wars. Just like the Taliban’s AKs mowed us down in droves.

Having spent very little time analyzing current and future weapon systems, countermeasures, battlefield tactics and etc. I have little to add to discussions of such, other than to mention if British paratroopers, landing Arnhem, had been equipped with the portable weapon systems in existence today, things might have turned out different.
