As Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson defends his past descriptions of receiving a scholarship offer for the US Military Academy at West Point, new doubts have been on his past, including a story of how he sheltered white classmates during Detroit race riots. Carson blasted the media on Friday after several reports questioned the validity of his book, Gifted Hands, but the presidential hopeful told the press that they were being unfair and he felt like the victim of a ‘witch hunt’.

Questions about Carson's assertions about his personal history, including his claim that he was a troubled youth beset at times by violent behavior, and his inaccurate pronouncements about historical events have gained attention as he has risen to the top of some national polls.

'I think what it shows, and these kinds of things show, is there is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find a way to tarnish me,' Carson said no Friday night during a news conference outside West Palm Beach. 'Because they have been looking through everything,' he added. 'They have been talking to everyone I have ever known and everybody I have ever seen. There has got to be a scandal.'

He told reporters, 'My job is to call you out when you're unfair, and I'm going to continue to do that.'

The most recent story under question is a harrowing tale he told last month of protecting his white high school classmates the day after Dr Martin Luther King Jr was assassinated in 1968. Violent race riots hit the neurosurgeon-turned-politician’s predominantly black Southwestern High School in Detroit. Carson, who was a junior lab assistant with a key to the school’s biology lab, sheltered his frightened friends from violence by bringing them into the workroom, he told the Wall Street Journal.

Well, we knew it would happen once the GOPe got him ahead in a couple of polls. The goal all along was to try to knock Trump out, substitute Ben. Then, take out Ben, substitute Cruz (have you noticed all the Cruz-friendly stories in the WSJ, National Review, etc lately?). In this scenario, once they had Cruz in, they would take him out and substitute Rubio, who is their (now) favorite, since Yeb has collapsed.

Don't anyone think this is all happening now by accident. There is a reason it didn't come out till they could say "Carson leading Trump in the polls."

It does seem to me that Carson has *enhanced* events to make a better story about himself. To me ... it’s looking like a Brian William’s sort of deal ... where you exaggerate for the sake of a story. That’s fine for you and me around the water cooler at work. But *enhancing* as a tv news person or a politician running for office ... not particularly a smart move.

I have other concerns about Carson ... mainly where he stands on issues important to me. The latest drip, drip, drip of Carson’s stories not quite adding up ... yeah, they’re not exactly improving my opinion of Dr. Carson.

The press or a debate moderator could kill Carson with one question:

"Dr. Carson, you advocate a flat tax of 10% to 15% or more with no deductions. Because of deductions and tax credits, an average family of four earning around $48000 a year pay no income taxes. Many more pay less than 15% of their income in taxes. For the majority of Americans who's taxes you will be raising, what do you say to them to convince them they should still vote for you?

I am wearying of this mainstream media jihad against Carson. Carson had, IMHO, the right defense against these attacks by asking the media why they didn’t ask about Obama’s records in 2008. The answer is clear...they wanted to find nothing negative about Obama but are doing all in their power to harm Carson. It’s the old double standard rearing its head.

Carson can whine about the media checking his truthfulness, but he has gotten away with massaging and embellishing his life story for a long time.

In one of his Mannatech videos he credits the company with funding his endowment chair ($2.5 Million) at Johns Hopkins. When the Mannatech connection became a liability, his campaign said that Carson was confused.

When one makes bizarre statements like he did about the pyramids, one is inviting scrutiny. BTW, the SDA false prophetess, Ellen G. White, has a pyramid symbol on her grave stone, so maybe there is a connection to her teachings and his pyramid belief.

Meanwhile, no challenges have ever been raised by them over Obama's sealed student records, much less his questionable birth certificate. Where was the msm when Obama said: "If you like your health care provider, you can keep your provider." They fawn over O and his save the planet policies while he and Michelle are burning up fuel on their worldwide travels, vacations and golf outings.

Dr. Carson is precisely the role model young black men need on how to overcome adversity and rise above the fray. Sickening.

There are two sides to this story. #1 there is no doubt that the media will go after him harder than they do any democrat. #2 If he wrote a bunch of junk in his book that isn’t true, then you know.... it is what it is.
