At 15, I never thought I would put it on. And by 18, I never imagined taking it off.
And today, I wear a headscarf, commonly known as hijab, part-time.
More than a year and a half ago, I decided to explore outside the boundaries of my scarf -- I removed it. It had taken me six years to make this decision.
The scarf symbolizes a collection of meanings for different Muslim women. Some would argue it is a requirement to cover a woman's hair and adhere to an understood "modest" dress code referenced in the Quran, the Muslim holy book. They consider it a religious duty. A must.
I once did, too.

Well, Slma, did you get your genitals gouged out, you know, in the tradition?

Well, there I am! I was wondering where I was! Dang!
Blahblahblah....BOOOOOOOM
What an idiot!
These cattle can prattle lol...
Women are covered up because their men cannot control their sex drive. This act is not one of strength, but one demonstrating a weakness,
Here’s her picture: http://www.cnn.com/profiles/slma-shelbayah She works for CNN.
Was in Europe recently on a very hot day. The muslim men were wearing shorts and tanks because of the heat while their wives were forced to sit in the baking in the sun, covered head to toe in heat absorbing black.
Islam is a REAL “war on women.”
I’m with you. Everytime I see a woman in the burka at the grocery store I become enraged. I try to think well its not their fault some guy is making them wear it. Who knows? They don’t belong in our society. They all need to go back to the sandpit.
Our Kroger is Burka central. Our whole area is being inundated with the muzzies. Its terrible. We are leaving soon.

You do know why the Muslim men make their women wear those sacks don’t you?
It’s so their goat doesn’t get jealous.
LOL!
Are you in Georgia? I am in Houston and I see a few women with scarves.
Certain parts of town because there are several large mosques.
There is a Muslim settlement/training camp south of Houston about 60 miles. We know people who live close to it and they see very little activity. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t going on, just that they are secretive.
