Its not a sh*thole, as you said yourself, some parts of it are amazing, some are not. Just like any country.
Lessee...slaughtered goats hanging by the side of the road covered with flies in the summer sun, raw sewage in the Alexandria bay, trash covered beaches with locals sunbathing in piles of trash that wash up...the stench of raw sewage in the summer sun...yeah, amazing!
