Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders (I-VT) introduced a Senate bill today that would legalize recreational marijuana use on a federal level, The Hill reports. This is the first Senate bill ever to propose completely legalizing recreational marijuana.

The Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act would remove marijuana from the Drug Enforcement Administration's list of "most dangerous drugs" and from the Controlled Substances Act, which regulates the manufacture, possession and use of certain drugs, according to The Huffington Post.

Stopped clock rule in effect here. Bernie is closer to the constitution on this issue than are many conservatives.

Why stop there?

To assess the transition and ultimate outcome, and see if it leaves us with a War on Drugs that can actually be won, which the War on Pot manifestly cannot be.

How about legalizing recreational heroin. Recreational methadrine. Recreational crack cocaine?

Those should be considered only after the above-mentioned assessment.

He makes a good case for decriminalizing it.

I think Sanders is marxist scum.

I do however, agree the federal government should take pot off the drug schedule & decriminalize possession of it for adults over 21 years of age. After that let the states decide if they want to regulate/tax it or not.

More freedom is always a good thing, IMO.
