Trump shows real policy chops with great fix for ailing VA

A whopping 20 percent of Republican primary voters are military veterans. No wonder GOP presidential candidates are making the scandal-plagued Veterans Affairs Department a campaign issue.

And the man frequently tagged as lacking substance - Donald Trump - just came out with the best reform plan so far.

Under Trump's plan, vets of all ages who are eligible for VA care could get treated at any civilian doctor's office or hospital that takes Medicare. No bureaucratic hoops, pre-approvals or wait lists.

...Competitors criticize Trump for not estimating the cost. But the facts suggest his plan will be low-cost, because nearly half of VA users are already on Medicare. Astoundingly, over 1 million of them have Medicare Advantage, which means taxpayers are paying insurance companies to care for them and then paying Veterans Affairs to care for them. This nonsensical double payment sends 10 percent of the VA health budget down the drain every year.

I have no doubt that Trump has real affection and loyalty for Vets and wants them to have good care care.

I am not sure what the best help is though and I am curious to know, from people who are Vets, what they think of Trump’s plan.

First of all, it’s just that - a plan - subject to being tweaked. Remember he had a vet’s hotline and people sending in their stories. I’m assuming these solutions are the response to the problems that others have told him.

Mr. Carson, what experience DO YOU HAVE running a large business with your own money on the line?
How many thousands of employees were paid with money you made off this business?
What sorts of things did you have to do to keep profitable every month? 
How many years did you spend in big business with your own firm?
How successful was your firm.  What was it's value when you took over?  What was then final value?
Did people from around the world recognize your prowess and seek your business management out?
Further, what experience do you have making $100s of million dollar deals? 
What experience do you have making international business deals?
What top national level business tax men, advisers, and accountants did you deal with in your business?
How many of them have agreed to come to the White House and work gratus to get this nation back on track?

Well, I never did any of that, but I did sign books at a Holiday Inn last night.

I don’t understand why VA hospitals exist...You don’t need separate hospitals to go to, all you need are separate ID cards to be used at local hospitals...

The VA hospital I use is not like the commercial local hospitals at all.

I would hate to lose my VA hospital.

The VA does a lot of speciality stuff no one else does or can do.

Yep. I've got a special brain shunt that a regular commercial hospital wouldn't/couldn/t do.

The VA hospital also provided training for 3 neuro guys under the tutelage of one smart guy using me for a guinea pig. I'm all for teaching doctors.

They are still getting info out of me.

Just found this article/post from reading it on another forum. Did a search and was glad to see it’s been posted!

Betsy McCaughey is one of the foremost authorities on healthcare and 0bolaCare....she was the one who sounded the loudest alarms (on Fox every night, numerous time over the years with Levin, articles read by Rush, etc, etc) before the disastrous OCare was forced down our throats.

Great article and great kudos to Trump for looking out for our dear vets!!!
