Sen. Marco Rubio on Wednesday slammed Donald Trump's record on immigration, saying he only became a hardliner on the issue once he started running for president.
Rubio was asked on Fox News about a poll in Florida showing Rubio and former Florida governor Jeb Bush trailing Trump in their home state. Rubio said it had absolutely nothing to do with Trump's stances on immigration, which currently include an aggressive proposal to build a huge wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and to deport more than 11 million undocumented immigrants.
"Well first of all, Donald was a supporter of amnesty and the DREAM Act, he changed his position on those issues just to run for president," Rubio said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "But beyond it, I don't think that's the issue that's driving it. Florida voters are following the national trends and watching the news cycle. I'm confident that as we get closer to a real election in Florida, those numbers are going to change. And they will."

These are quotes from Trumps books:
Trump from "The America We Deserve", 2000
IMMIGRATION- PROTECTING OUR OWN There's another area of foreign affairs that doesn't get talked about very much, but it is a huge issue: Immigration. America is experiencing serious social and economic difficulty with illegal immigrants who are flooding across our borders. Five million illegals live in this country.
Two million of them live in California. Seven hundred thousand undocumented immigrants live in Texas. We simply can't absorb them. It is a scandal when America cannot control its own borders.
A liberal policy of immigration may seem to reflect confidence and generosity. But our current laxness toward illegal immigration shows a recklessness and disregard for those who live here legally.

Trump from "Time to Get Tough: Making America #1 Again," 2011
Illegal immigration is a wrecking ball aimed at U.S. taxpayers. Washington needs to get tough and fight for "We the People," not for the special interests who want cheap labor and a minority voting bloc. Every year taxpayers are getting stuck with a $113 billion bill to pay for the costs of illegal immigration.2 That's a bill we can't afford and wouldn't have to pay if people in Washington did their jobs and upheld our nation's laws.

Trump never voted to pass illegal amnesty you idiot Rubio.
You did.
As recently as this year, you Bubio told Mexico that you’d keep Obama’s executive anmesty in place. Ain’t that right Bubio? Yes it is.
Yeah, its no surprise Rubio would resort to being less than truthful, he has a record.
But even if he was correct, isn’t he condemning himself, since he obviously still supports amnesty? I’d vote for a amnesty supporter who changed their mind before I would one who hadn’t.
Yes, I read “Time to Get Tough” and knew this was a lie as soon as I read it. Rubio is a glib, POS, GOP establishment liar and amnesty whore.
Amen. Amnesty boy Rubio wish for open borders makes him an enemy of our children’s future.
Marco Rubio would keep Barack Obama's executive order on amnesty intact. See article. Cannot be President. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/11/02/marco-rubio-jorge-ramos-will-keep-obamas-first-executive-amnesty-place-legislative-amnesty-enacted/
I’m getting the popcorn out and I hate popcorn.
Love popcorn, it's American!
President Ted Cruz will secure our border.
.
A bit of logic that seems to have escaped Rubio. Not to mention that he's lying through his teeth.
I want a wall or the border will not be secure.
Rubio doesn’t want to talk about immigration at all. He wants that sleeping dog to lie. He will lose whenever the topic is even discussed because it reminds everybody of the Rubio fronted Gang of Eight fiasco.
I like Cruz but I can find nothing where he says he will build a wall, deport, or stop the anchor baby crap.
I want a Trump/Cruz ticket so if you can point me to where he says anything about it I would appreciate it.
Cruz has always been against anchor babies. As for deportation, he says that we secure the border and go about enforcing our laws. I wish he would spell it out like Trump does. He is for some physical structure at the border, but again I would like more details like Trump.
I thought Cruz said that the 14th amendment would need to be repealed and that enforcing current law was more important.
You are correct, and in this instance - Trump is correct - and the constitutional scholar is not.
Cruz will just increase legal immigration snd accomplish same thing as retention of illegals. Wonderful sleight of hand that super smart Cruz.
O
Do not be fooled by Cruz on trade and flooding market with foreign workers.
