Democrats Blame 'Trump-Mania' for Matt Bevin Victory in Kentucky

Democrats stunned by Matt Bevin's victory in the race for Kentucky governor blamed "Trump-mania" for the Tea Party candidate's unlikely 53%-44% win over Democrat Jack Conway.

"Attorney General Jack Conway ran a strong campaign focused on the issues that matter to Kentuckians: good schools, good-paying jobs and economic opportunity," said Elisabeth Pearson, executive director of the Democratic Governors Association, in an official statement on the results.

Pearson added: "Unfortunately, he ran into the unexpected headwinds of Trump-mania, losing to an outsider candidate in the year of the outsider. While Jack Conway came up just short tonight, his presence in this race strengthened the issues debate in Kentucky."

The very reason for Trump-mania is a history of Lefty politics going back several decades.

I stand by my post.

But yesterday Democrats in the media said Trump could never win and his campaign is in decline and he is losing to Carson. Wow, a lot changed in 24 hours.

Trump is spreading coat tails a year before the coming election.... or perhaps it is the penumbra cast by his impending election... regardless...

Trump and the outsiders are killing the political class’ hopes from their homes on the Potomac.

The state is a mess. The voters are as corrupt as the politicians. It’s all about who’s going to give me MINE. The old people want the pensions and the young people want free health care, tuition, food, housing, etc. Most of the state’s citizens are totally lacking in ambition, have given up on finding any kind of success and just have their hand out.

I agree with a lot of the posters here, 53%-44% win is NOT coattails. Trump mania might have added a point or two, but 7% means there were a lot more voters than that.

I think this is a great shot over the bows of Hillary for next years festivities.

People are sick and tired of the Obama factor and what the Democrats have been doing and the base is heavily (even more so now) demoralized. And if Hillary or Bernie or Biden is your great white hope, put the barrel in your mouth and pull the trigger.

The bad news is Hillary is guaranteed to receive 44% of the vote next year.

No matter how terrible a Democratic candidate is, they’ll still get a respectable showing.

Not much of a victory to me.

I guess I’ll just ignore politics.

Good luck with that.

Maybe, but if Hillary loses i don’t really care.

Even the worst Republican cannot match her for nepotism, cronyism, or criminal-ism. And I could see her pushing her daughter to run for President after her.

What will be interesting to see who is the Chairman of the Kentucky delegation to the convention next year. Paul will be out, so if the delegates are majority Rubio, McConnell will be the chair. If the delegates are Cruz or Trump, it will be Bevin.

WOO HOO! Finally a win for the good guys! I live in the Northeast so I couldn’t vote for Bevin - but I was praying for him to win.
I’ve heard him many times on The Glenn Beck Show and Matt Bevin seems to be the real deal. Maybe there is hope for the rest of the country. (I can dream can’t I?)

Getting only 44% of the vote is a far cry from coming up just short.

Especially in a low turnout scenario.
