Matt Bevin, Republican, Wins Governor’s Race in Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Matt Bevin, a Republican political novice, wealthy Louisville businessman and Tea Party favorite, was elected Kentucky’s next governor on Tuesday, a victory that could herald a new era in a state where Democrats have held the governor’s mansion for all but four of the last 44 years. The Associated Press declared Mr. Bevin the winner shortly after 8 p.m.

In beating his Democratic opponent, Attorney General Jack Conway, Mr. Bevin surprised many in his own party, who believed that the climate in Kentucky was ripe for a Republican but feared that Mr. Bevin, a charismatic conservative with a go-it-alone style, was too far out of the mainstream and too inexperienced to win.

Mr. Bevin, 48, has spent recent weeks traveling Kentucky in a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban with more than 200,000 miles on it; on Tuesday, Election Day, he turned up at two Chick-fil-A restaurants here in Louisville, shaking hands in a last-minute bid for votes.

NYT is the authority on what constitutes mainstream. Hurl.

Bevin could have won with 90% and the Slimes would define the other 10% as the mainstream.

“Polls showed him behind the entire race,
until the votes got counted.”

So this may be an indication as to just how skewed the polling is. Bub-bye Hitlary!

When you read the NYSlimes article you have to wonder if the blades are about to come off of their “spin machine.” Rove was just on O”Gasbag. Guess it must have been pre-recorded because there was no mention made of Bevin’s win. It would have been fun to watch Rove try to talk around this win.

Maybe this will quiet the “Cruz can’t win” crowd

I always counted Kentucky in Cruz's 190 electoral votes.

I fervently hope the very first action he undertakes is to replace Mitch as Senator after he is recalled.

Conservatives have another governor, democrats have lost another. The democrat bench keeps getting smaller. The democrat party keeps getting more regional. Time for Bevin to start defunding the left in Kentucky so they won’t have the money to fight back. Go Scott Walker on them.

I wouldn't necessarily try to make that case. Some people are just better suited to a leadership role in an executive capacity. Even the best U.S. Senators tend to be dull, unimaginative people who enjoy a legislative process where they don't have to lead in any way at all.

Love him or hate him, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie responded to a question about his interest in a U.S. Senate seat with a rant that ought to go down in history:

"I would be bored to death. Can you imagine me banging around that chamber with 99 other people? Asking for a motion on the amendment in the subcommittee? Forget it. It would be over, everybody. You'd watch me just walk out and walk right into the Potomac River and drown."

LMAO.

That's what I thought.
