So what is the procedure if a seat is double-booked? If I get my @ss to the airport and go through all that security BS, I expect to get where I’m going.

Why do airlines overbook anyway?

Because airlines know that if the overbooking put a white and a black in the same seat then they know that the black will be booted off of the flight? ;-)
