Trump campaign to negotiate directly with TV networks on debate formats
Washington Post ^ | 11/02/2015 | Costa

nald Trump and his advisers have decided to work directly with television executives and take a lead role in negotiating the format and content of primary debates, which have become highly watched and crucial events in the 2016 race, according to Republicans familiar with their plans.

Trump plans to reject a joint letter to television network hosts regarding upcoming primary debates drafted Sunday at a private gathering of operatives from at least 11 presidential campaigns, the Republicans said.

The move by Trump, coming just hours after more than a dozen Republican strategists huddled in the Washington suburbs to craft a list of possible demands, effectively throttles an effort by the campaigns and the letter’s drafter, longtime GOP attorney Ben Ginsberg, to find consensus and work collectively to negotiate terms.

I absolutely, totally, believe that. He has run his life that way and he won’t change. Past behavior is a good predictor of future behavior.

He wants the debates run his way ONLY and that’s what he is attempting to do. If you don’t understand what this means, you are not thinking forward to how this would manifest itself if he were president.

“He is not after this for himself, he is after this for America...”

He has deluded many people with his bravado with no substance, and, unfortunately, you are one of them.

Three debates so far and I haven’t had a chance to hear any of the candidates explain
their positions on anything.

***************

And you won’t under the existing conditions.

The format should be set up in 3 or 4 segments with each segment a specific topic.
Example: Budget deficits, how would you manage them?

Then allow each participant a 2 couple of minutes to expain how he/she would address the issue
and maybe point out flaws in the others proposals. Some cross examinations could be allowed.

After this segment move to the next one. One moderator to manage the flow but not
really that much involved in the back and forth among the candidates.

Have you noticed that for two entire election cycles and nearly two full terms not one single person has ever surfaced to thank Obama for helping him/her in a time of dire need?

Think about it. Obama was an actual community organizer, but not a single person has stepped forward to recount a story of Obama stepping in to help them when they needed it most.

There have been quite a few such stories about Trump. People he’s helped have come forward and offered their tales without prompting. When no one else would go out of his/her way to help, Trump did.

You are either very uninformed or hopelessly biased. Trump is nothing like Obama.

Good. Too many cooks spoil the broth. Let Trump negotiate it and have all the others tag along, as they have been doing the whole campaign.

He is the front-runner. The others will come with him, after he seals the deal. Those who don’t, whither on the vine.

November 2, 2015. Donald Trump officially hijacks the Republican Party!

It's a hostile takeover too! lol.

Trump has never been my first choice. But he is earning my respect as a leader. Someone had to bend the GOP-E over and it would seem that Trump has decided it will be him. I guess I will take it for now. It starts a reset opportunity and I hope we seed the new GOP with the right folks.

Maybe the GOP needs hijacking. Maybe the next debate should be hosted by SNL (it might really be an improvement). Donald does happen to have a few skills in making deals!

Trump should call Rinse Prebus and say “you’re fired”

And do it on live TV

He just did.

Well, OK, not on live TV.

“This is such a major dislike of mine. Why waste time with anyone who is polling less than 10%? Three debates so far and I haven’t had a chance to hear any of the candidates explain their positions on anything. Between insane moderators and the number of candidates on the stage, it comes down to about who was wearing what, who smiled best.”

You are not alone. The electorate is frustrated. There hasn’t been a lot of substance in these debates.
