Thomson Reuters' social media sentiment analysis showed the volume of tweets mentioning the U.S. senator from Texas was the highest among the candidates at 14,090, while celebrity real estate developer Donald Trump, a party front-runner, followed with 12,045.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who was leading the latest national poll on the Republican 2016 primary race heading into the debate, was a distant third with 9,366 mentions during the night.
But in terms of sentiment, based on the ratio of positive versus negative tweets, Trump scored 15.2 on average, followed by Rand Paul, a U.S. senator from Kentucky, with an average score of 8.12, according to Thomson Reuters data.
Carson was third with an average score of 3.7, and Cruz followed with a reading of 3.3.
Scores of other candidates were negative. Former Hewlett-Packard Co Chief Executive Officer Carly Fiorina suffered the most with a negative 17.5 average. That marks a significant decline from the second Republican debate in September, when she was considered the "winner" on social media.

Ping.
Poor Shep Smith, his prediction of Trump losing failed to materialize.
I seriously thought it was SNL and Trump was hosting.
Horrible start to the debate! Disrespected Mr. Trump! Trump has been running a fantastic campaign! I listen to his speeches that are recorded and see the crowds! He will win. He should have not told the Marxist media what it would take for him to exit, cause they are manufacturing the polls to dishearten him. Recent polls are incoming - psyops only! Trust the crowds! Trust the crowds! Election Day is the only real poll worth winning!
Here is one for you. As long as we are talking Cyber growth, let’s look a Trump’s twitter growth.
I have been watching Trump’s twitter stats since the democrat debate. Since then Trump has added 270,000 subscribers to his twitter account.
He is now adding about 10,000 subscribers per day.
Since the democrat debate he has gone from 4.42 million to 4.69 million subscribers. Hillary Clinton has 4.59 subscribers and Trump is blowing her stats to pieces. There have also been stories that half of Clinton’s subscribers are fake.
No other candidate has these kinds of numbers Republican or democrat.
By end of year Trump will be close to 6 million subscribers.
By super Tuesday he will be close to 7 million if not more. No other candidate has that kind of growth. Who knows depending on how the supporters shake out for the other candidates Trump may be closer to 10 million.
Keep in mind also that with re-tweets whatever Trump’s subscribers are multiply times 3 to get an idea of the total people reached on a daily basis.
You do not have to take my word for it. Just look at his stats every day. It is that simple to see how he is doing and then compare to the other candidates. Hillary is not growing at all! And as I said no other candidate is adding this kind of subscriber growth.
Just curious.. are these Trump followers actually newcomers to twitter (Joined just to follow Trump) or are they old pros who happened to stumble upon our ‘Horn’ PS: If they just joined to follow — More Power to TRUMP!! His army is growing.
That’s a beautiful photo.
I have not seen this kind of growth in any other twitter account of the candidates.
As I said he is adding 10,000 per day . From yesterday
today he went from 4.69 million to 4.7 millions. That is staggering growth.
The Economist has 11 million followers. By super Tuesday Trump will have close to those numbers and the Economist twitter subscribers are worldwide and it is only 11 million.
Amazing. Don’t take my word for it. Watch it grow for yourself.
That is great information! My own story is that I joined Twitter just to be connected to Mr. Trump. He is the only person I follow. I don’t really retweet, but post on forums.
Needless to say, there’s a TRUMP fan here. However, not even he will persuade me to become a twitter-er. No tweet for me. Rely on blog information for the Tweets seen. Facebook, Twitter, Tumbler. All seem to want a life’s history and from the rumors floating around they are sharing this with any and every Tom, Dick, and Harry. That and the fact like many elites...tend to rule with an iron fist. Thank you for the info. It offers much encouragement.
I have a twitter account and they have no info on me and honestly I don’t tweet. I need it for stock market info.
I do like to see how Trump’s stats are doing daily and can check on his twitter site and see.
He is adding about 300,000-400,000 subscribers monthly and I like to compare to the other candidates. Hillary Clinton is not growing at all with subscribers which I find very interesting. She as 4.59 million subscribers and he as 4.7 million.
With all these polls it is hard to know what to believe so I like to check into twitter and see his stats. The guy is adding at least 10,000 per day which I find staggering.
That was me. My Twitter feed is just Trump!
