South Carolina school officer fired, but more fallout possible
CNN ^ | 10/29/2015 | Holly Yan

Ben Fields' seven years as a school resource officer are over. But the fallout from his tossing a student across a classroom may be far from over.

The FBI is looking into whether the former South Carolina sheriff's deputy committed a crime. And the FBI and U.S. attorney's office are looking into whether the student's civil rights were violated.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said he fired Fields because the deputy threw the student at Spring Valley High School.

"The fact that he picked the student up and he threw the student across the room -- that is not a proper technique, and should not be used in law enforcement," Lott said.

She wasn’t thrown across the room. Good grief. Her desk toppled backwards as the officer tried to take her into custody.

I’d like to see how an unwilling and defiant perp is taken into custody without a struggle.

There is a logical solution here, but I think the blacks are setting up the police and other authorities to see how it pays off.

The student hit the lottery!

Guessing mom should start saving it, she will need it for her little darling's future bail postings.

Who would want to be the next SRO at this school? Do your job and expect tire tracks on your back after you get thrown under the bus.

Gee, I remember when that was not a death penalty offense. Strangely it didn’t happen often. I wonder why.

Ok. So what “is” the proper technique, when dealing with a thuggish belligerent who has no respect for authority whatsoever, and who refuses to leave the premises? Has anyone or any police representative stated what the officer should have done instead?

Supposedly the student also struck the officer. Is that ok now? Are police now supposed to ‘turn the other cheek’ to these cretins?

Just trying to figure out what folks are supposed to do now when dealing with scumbags. What are the new rules here? Aside from just letting them get away with it.

The police should go on strike from coast to coast for at least a month. Nature and Darwinism will thin out the trouble makers.

That girl lost all rights when she refused to leave the room for the teacher AND a second adult to confirm the fact.

That teacher and security guard could have been sued if the out-of-control young 'un had injured other students.

Any adult who is working in a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" environment should resign if they can afford to do so. If not, they should job hunt.

I can think of several people in this story who belong in a cage. Ben Fields is not one of them.

Yes, I have embraced ECT. I have also embraced ETAFT, which I recommend to you.

Meh. All he had to do was cuff her.

All in all, she was lucky. He could have tazed her.

From now on, every Richland County deputy should call Sheriff Lott for written permission before doing anything.

A store owner wants a deputy to remove a drunk blocking the front door? Better call Sheriff Lott first. Get guidance on just what to do, and how to proceed.

As a side note, I'm pretty reliably anti-bully cop here on FR. But this one looks like a rush to judgment to me.

I think there will be a Spring Valley effect just like there was a Ferguson effect. Resource officers will just do nothing if the student refuses to comply.

The deputy didn’t throw anybody. The desk flipped backwards when he tried to pry the student from the desk. He then drug the student to the front of the room where he had more space to arrest the perp....which also got the perp away from other students that might have been injured during the struggle and arrest.

Law enforcement officers are being sold out and lied about by their politically correct superiors everywhere in America now. If I were in law enforcement these days, I’d find another gig. Of course, that is the desired end result...which would justify and require Obama’s ‘just as well-armed’ civilian federal force.

Existential Tar And Feathers Theory.

Find a liberal.

Coat him with tar. Preferably the hot melt kind, but room temperature driveway sealer will do in a pinch.

Roll him in feathers.

Drag him outside the city limits.

Walk away ...
