The Glock probably saved him a big beat down. Good for him.
The cops want a precedent set AGAINST downing drones because the cops want to be able to peek in everyone’s property using drones.Who needs pesky search warrants if you can just buzz a little camera-equipped drone next to the windows?
Attach a laser pen to a drone and you could cause a lot of mischief.
Maybe they’ll create a laser pen that can take out drones...
Backyard Drone Blinds are going to become popular.
“The Glock probably saved him a big beat down. Good for him.”
And if they don’t take the hint I think you pick out the leader/alpha male and shoot him 1st.
Now *that's* a real mans sidearm!
The other day, a person could have gone swimming in my backyard if they were long on being on the very short side of things. We had a series of small shallow lakes, as it were.
Black gumbo clay doesn't soak up water very well or rapidly...
Fortunately, for this household, the EPA wasn't flying drones that day, searching yet more answer for that perennial (seasonal?) question;
Few inventions have succeeded as much as the drone in bringing out the inherent stupidity of so many people.
"Not all shot will be of the same velocity," Yes, but that has a minimal affect on shot spread, except a very small difference in trajectory or vertical dispersion."
"and slower shot will drop faster." No, they will not. High school physics taught most of us that all object fall vertically at the same rate regardless of horizontal velocity."
"If you shoot straight up, then the slower shot will still drop, or slow, but it will still be on line."
No, Shot dispersion from a shotgun barrel is conical in nature due the imperfections in individual pellets. Each pellet leaves the muzzle at a slightly different angle causing the pattern of pellets to get larger and larger at greater and greater ranges.
"So, if the shot was straight up, and the drone was hovering, the shot would have been much easier"
Congratulations! You finally found a demonstrable true. Yes, stationary targets are easier to hit than moving targets!
If you know next to nothing about physics or ballistics, please do not post here.
“are used to bring down geese and ducks in flight at around 200â altitude”
No, not usually. Duck hunting is usually at closer range.
I have, many times.........but that was when they hit the ground.
BEGIN...THE DRONE WARS THEY DO!
How much air space do you own? If a plane flies over your yard is it also a criminal trespass? Can you shoot down ultralights, hospital helicopters, jet liners, hot air balloons, satellites, Cessna's, weather balloons, blimps, airships, your neighbors pet parakeet that got out? I think that your property rights have altitude limits and I Think that drone owners also have property rights. To not respect either is unjust.
The commenters here all seem to have convicted the pilot of being a peeping tom, there are many legitimate uses for drones and drone photography. Since I cannot legally shot your cat that comes on my property, and I can photograph your property from the street or from my own property is seems that the reaction here is knee-jerk to say the least.
Can it blind the camera?
Well, it is Bullitt County. Close enough.
This has a GIF showing the moment the shot hit the drone - it was clearly at a high altitude.

If this becomes a problem where I live I may take my wife's tennis ball launcher outside.
