You said...

“Don’t let your dislike of Trump’s demeanor blind you to what he is advocating.”

And many of those positions will change next week

Or not...

Trump praised the stimulus.

Are you expecting him to initiate a new round of it?  I don't know anyone else who does.  See my additional comments marked HERE below.

Trump praised the Canadian and Scottish healthcare systems and supports single payer.

In January of 2000, Trump said he thought we should have a system like Canada or Scotland's.

This is 2015.  He changed his mind over the years, and I am amazed at how many people are upset that he did.

Obamacare is a government run health care system, headed toward a single payer with steadily increasing fees.

Trump is advocating removing the state line restructions that prevent insurance companies from competing nationwide.  This will reduce fees through competition.  It will get people back into the private sector.  He also thinks that increased competition will result in a proliferation of types of policies.  That is a movement away from single payer, towards lower fees, and without govenrment involvement.

Trump backed Hillary for Senate.

Trump was an international businessman in New York who might need the help of the U. S. Senator from his state.  That was Hillary Clinton.  At the same time he sent her funds, he was also sending Republicans funds.  He didn't send the Republicans as much, but knowing New York state and who the politicians were there, it's amazing he sent fund to any Republicans.  None the less he sent out hundreds of thousands of dollars to them.  Thought you'd like to know.

Trump called Obama a great leader who knows what he wants  HERE

This is a report that touched on what you have mentioned here and above.  LINK

President Obama held his first prime-time press briefing — designed to build support for the economic stimulus package that was his top priority upon taking office — on Feb. 9, 2009. Later that same night, real estate mogul Donald Trump took to the airwaves to sing the plan’s — and the president’s — praises.

I thought he did a terrific job,” Trump told Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren. “This is a strong guy knows what he wants, and this is what we need.

First of all, I thought he did a great job tonight,” said Trump. “I thought he was strong and smart, and it looks like we have somebody that knows what he is doing finally in office, and he did inherit a tremendous problem. He really stepped into a mess, Greta.

When did he say this.  What was going on in that environement.  What was the state of the nation?

When: Obama had been inaugurated 20 days prior on January 20th, 2009.  On February 9th, 2009, Obama held his first prime-time press briefing.  In it he presented his Stimulus (porkulous) plan.  That same night, Trump appared on the Van Susteren program to voice support for the plan.  In this report he is quoted as saying he looked at it, but I'm not sure how well he was able to it being the same day. What was going on:  The economy was in melt-down mode.  What was the state of the nation:  Precarious

Obama was handed off about as bad an economic situation as a president could confront during his first days.  That was our watch handing this disasterous situation off too.  Thanks a lot Bush.

In this environment, there was a lot of speculation about what should be done.  Here on the forum there was debate about it.  Some folks thought it was a Democrat graft program.  Others thought the economy needed help.  Let's remember that Bush had already pumped in massive funds.  It was rather an interesting call to term Obama's stimulas simply a Democrat ploy, when Bush had done something similar.  I believe I was a fence sitter to leaing toward doing this.  I did think Bush's initial action was needed, but I wasn't totally sure of Obama's plan.  I wan't totally against it either.  My recollection may be faulty.  I may have been more in favor of it than I recall now.

I have since come to suspect that both the Bush and Obama plan may have been unnecessary.  Trump wasn't the only person who supported Obama on this.  I believe that some FReepers got it more right than I did.

There are times when a plan is devised that you may not agree with all the way, but none the less you get behind it because that's the only chance a plan has of being a success, and the nation needed for that plan to succeed.

Trump could have sat there and trashed the plan, and the nation could have watched as a debate raged on for months with nothing being done.  Trump may have felt compelled to support just about any plan to get things moving.

Is that bad?  Perhaps yes.  Perhaps no.  In life, our plan isn't always the plan.  The plan still needs to work in times when important things need to get done.

If you want to blame that on Trump, be my guest.

Reagan warned about government run healthcare

And Trump advocates a private sector replacement for Obamacare..

Reagan supported Goldwater in his presidential run

Trump was not  in politics.  He was a businessman from a very liberal state.

Reagan spent years building the conservative movement behind him

Trump has not been involved in politics.  Nice story.  Not everyone's story will be the same.

Don’t let your love of his demeanor blind you to what he has advocated

It hasn't.  I look at the things he has done in the context he did or didn't do them.

I also take a good look at what he is advocating today.  His policies are very Reagan like today.

A lot of excuses you’re making for him and no, it wasn’t just in 2000. I’ve dealt with Trumps position on healthcare that go past 2000 in other posts so I won’t re iterate those.

You actually, whether you realized it or not, made my points for me regarding Trump and his supporters. Thanks...lol

How can that be? Trump is for "single payer!" Haven't you heard?

Isn't it funny how Trump's critics seem to be listening to him exclusively on a staticky radio with the signal fading in and out?
