As polls show Ben Carson catching - and even surpassing - Donald Trump, the brash businessman's attacks against his closest challenger have intensified. His remarks could backfire for being redundant, vague and hypocritical.
While Trump has been known for direct and personal verbal lobs against his opponents in the campaign, this is the first time he has found himself faced with another outsider who has risen above him in some recent key polls. And his strategy so far has yet to have any impact on Carson as the former pediatric neurosurgeon has refused to take the bait.
On MSNBC's Morning Joe Tuesday, Trump was quick to question Carson's appeal, insisting that under scrutiny, it won't continue. A "a lot of things will come out" about Carson's record, Trump said.
Trump challenged Carson's strict anti-abortion position, which Trump said wasn't always the same.
"Ben was pro-abortion not so long ago as everybody has told me," Trump said.
Trump was most likely referring to Carson's tenure as a pediatric neurosurgeon when he referred pregnant patients with genetic abnormalities to doctors who also perform abortions - a decision Carson defends pointing to the importance of "qualified medical supervision."
But the problem with Trump's statement is that his own record is not very consistent. In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" in 1999, Trump said that while he "hates" the idea of abortion he is "very pro-choice."

Since Carson is the closest contender to Trump, the MSM is going to play up Carson, if for no other reason than to generate a horse race for the ratings, and then to take down Trump, who’s a bigger threat to the political establishment.
I saw a thread today that Carson is already running low on money.
I can’t imagine Carson beating Trump in the states after Iowa, but what do I know?

Yes, I think that’s right. But somehow, I see Trump as the better candidate despite the fact I don’t believe he’s a born-again Christian. Of course neither was Lincoln born again before he came to office - he became a Christian while in office.
Somehow, I think Trump is the man right now. An indicator of this, although not the main reason for my support, is the angst the establishment and the Left have against Trump. I don’t think they’re that worried about Carson. Maybe it comes down to the probability that Trump should trounce Hillary whereas Carson is very questionable IMO.
The book you cite and it’s author were discredited a long time ago. I seriously doubt your charge but would be willing to consider it if you had a good and verifiable source(s). I have been around 7th Day Adventists for many years and never heard such a thing as you charge,

BTW, so far he hasn’t really provided reliable evidence of his charge against the 7th Day Adventists who I’ve been around for a long time and have never seen anything like what he’s talking about. He cited an old book on cults that has since been discredited.
I think that means a man would have to be sincere to stage a fight like this against these impossible odds. I think that’s true with Trump. I do think he’s sincere.

All right then its a bet if Carson is the nominee people will stay home here(trust me lol), and Memphis and Nashville will swing it for Hillary.
You know why I have warmed to Trump? Because quite simply he is not paid off by others. He says things as many of us say things without PC . He is not the establishment who hates the base. I feel he does love America.

I know 5 life long Dems, blue collar workers who have all said they would vote for Trump and the republican ticket for their first time.
Huckabee is a born-again Christian yet I don’t plan on voting for him. I just want someone who doesn’t give preference to muslims and who tries to silence Christians. I also want someone who honors God as our nation’s leader. That means doing what they can to stop abortion, stop same-sex marriage, not promoting homosexuality in schools - generally following biblical teachings. If they can’t do that or won’t do that, I have no interest in voting for them.
Trump continues to worry and piss off all the right people.

People will take replies seriously if they refute the content of the article with facts rather than just slinging mud at the poster.
