Donald Trump Changes Views on Medicare: "It's Actually a Program that's Worked"
ABC ^ | 10/27/15 | John Santucci

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has reversed his views on America’s premiere health insurance program.

Speaking to MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” today, the New York real estate mogul said he is in full support of Medicare.

"Ben [Carson] wants to knock out Medicare. I heard that over the weekend. He wants to abolish Medicare,” Trump said of Carson’s comments that Medicare “probably won’t be necessary” under his health care plan.

Trump added: “Abolishing Medicare, I don't think you'll get away with that one. It's actually a program that's worked. It’s a program that some people love, actually.”

But it was just Sunday morning on ABC News’ "This Week” where Trump said he agreed with Carson’s plan to replace the 50-year-old Medicare system with health savings accounts (HSA).

What would his political partners say about Medicare?

Exactly.

Republicans flip-flop on issues.

Democrats learn, grow, mature and progress to a higher level of understanding.

Evolve. Leftists evolve. And when you call
them on it, they pivot.

Well of course Medicare works great.....for a while.

It's paying out a lot more than it's taking in.

I got 3 kids and a wife, and I pay my medical expenses with my HSA moneymaker WTH are you talking about?

I guess you've been lucky. Any run of the mill surgery will cost over $100k. I know I could never accumulate that in mine which I had for some time.

So I guess Trump wins in a landslide next week.

Guess you did not get the memo, we will just forego the primaries and anoint Trump the nominee. There is no point in running the primaries anymore. It has been decided.

All the other contenders should feel privileged to be offered a cabinet position with the great Trump.

Pssst!, Donald...

Don't tell anybody but Medicare will be completely bankrupt in a couple of years. As it is now, it is running huge deficits and few doctors are taking any more Medicare patients.

If looming bankruptcy and disintegration of health care is what "works", then we have such a success in Medicare!

But then again, in the long run, we are all dead so who cares?

You are ridiculous. I don’t want a government run health care system and neither does Trump. In fact, I don’t think any candidate does.

You just asked where Cruz’ plan for government-run health care is.

You said...
“I don’t think you are allowed to point out inconsistencies in Trump’s positions - it causes the Trumpkins to tie themselves in knots trying to explain why it shows Trump is such a great leader by changing positions overnight!”

Naw...
It’s a sign he can “evolve”

There is a big difference between providing an alternative that is better and more attractive that allows a choice, and implementing a new program while eliminating the existing program.

And what is that alternative exactly?

I did? I apologize for that. I sure didn’t mean that at all. I meant his health care plan.

I could be wrong but I think his plan is to get rid of the government plan. I don’t think he intends to replace it because any replacement the government comes up with would be a government-run plan.

We have a FSA which is a little bit different. We can only contribute $2000 per year. We have to use the entire $2000. Any leftover is gone. You don’t get it back.

No worry for us though as this doesn’t even cover our prescription costs for most of the year. I sometimes wonder what planet some of these politicians live on.

Yes I am a Cruz supporter. And I am sure the plan he puts forth will be well considered and thoughtful

I'm sure it will be as well thought out as his vote for TPA and the corker bill. You hitched your wagon to a loser and are now throwing a tantrum. I guess that makes you a loser as well.
