Donald Trump Changes Views on Medicare: "It's Actually a Program that's Worked"
ABC ^ | 10/27/15 | John Santucci

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has reversed his views on America’s premiere health insurance program.

Speaking to MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” today, the New York real estate mogul said he is in full support of Medicare.

"Ben [Carson] wants to knock out Medicare. I heard that over the weekend. He wants to abolish Medicare,” Trump said of Carson’s comments that Medicare “probably won’t be necessary” under his health care plan.

Trump added: “Abolishing Medicare, I don't think you'll get away with that one. It's actually a program that's worked. It’s a program that some people love, actually.”

But it was just Sunday morning on ABC News’ "This Week” where Trump said he agreed with Carson’s plan to replace the 50-year-old Medicare system with health savings accounts (HSA).

And Carson never said anything about replacing Medicare with it, he just said Medicare would probably not be necessary.

What's the difference?

I hope Mr. Carson and Mr. Trump read up on HSA's because neither seem to know what they do. They're good for paying co-pays and deductibles, but one could never accumulate enough to actually pay for their medical care.

I don’t think that’s exactly what he said :)

“On the question Sunday about whether he agreed with Carson’s idea that “Medicare probably won’t be necessary,” Trump said, “It’s possible. You’re going to have to look at that. But I’ll tell you what; the health savings accounts, I’ve been talking about it also. I think it’s a very good idea … it’s an idea whose probably time has come.”

No, we’ll want to get sick so we can experience how smart it is.

The media has been reporting that Carson did say that. So it’s the media that’s lying (if you are correct). Don’t blame Trump. What exactly was the question he was asked? Did Scarborough say Carson wanted it abolished? It sure sounds like he was asked that.

I’m going to assume you are a Cruz supporter. Now, I’d like to hear his detailed health care plan. All I hear is repeal and replace obamacare. With what? How? See, how this works? Undoubtedly it will be the smartest plan ever put forth by the smartest man who ever walked the earth - Ted Cruz. /sarc

Yes I am a Cruz supporter. And I am sure the plan he puts forth will be well considered and thoughtful - as opposed to Trump, who recently supported single-payer and seems to blow with the wind on a number of topics and seems to say whatever comes to mind.

There seems to be quite a bit of inferior feelings from the Trump contingent...

So, you do want a government-run health care system!?

You know its all part of a grand strategy to be revealed at a later date maybe. It’ll be terrific.

You're great. A nice guy. But you're terrible.

What's the difference?

There is a big difference between providing an alternative that is better and more attractive that allows a choice, and implementing a new program while eliminating the existing program.

You sound uniformed.

Cruz introduced a bill back in March. Go find it and read it.

Coz y'all are playing checkers, while Trump is playing star trek chess... and he is a billionaire in case you forgot.
