Ben Carson has edged out fellow GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump in a new national poll, taking the top spot from the real estate mogul for the first time in months.
Carson is supported by 26 percent of GOP primary voters, followed by Trump at 22 percent, according to the CBS News/New York Times poll released early Tuesday. All other candidates follow in the single digits, with Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) at 8 percent and businesswoman Carly Fiorina and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush at 7 percent each.
The poll represents growing momentum for Carson, who surpassed Trump in several polls in the early voting state of Iowa over the past week ahead of the next GOP debate on Wednesday.
"Ben Carson is now doing well," Trump acknowledged on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" after the poll came out, adding that he believed Carson would see more scrutiny as a front-runner.

You’re right. We don’t.
The guy is a bore. The guy is for illegal immigration. The guy has said that his “social justice” goals are the same as Al Sharpton’s. The guy doesn’t even care enough about the voters to campaign to them, but just runs around the country on a book tour (suggesting that his vanity candidacy is more about selling books than anything else). The guy is...questionable...at best on the 2nd amendment. He’s got no leadership experience whatsoever.

I’ll agree and add to your list. Carson is against eating ted meat....he’s a vegan. He doesn’t celebrate Christmas....is Seventh Day Adventist. Is okay with same sex unions, abortions, and using aborted babies’ tissue and organs for scientific experiments. Carson is pro the guest worker program, supports ethanol subsidies, admires and agrees with Sharpton and Farrachan, and VOTED FOR OBAMA. He has been a Republican less time than it takes to be considered a FReeper! What the devil is hge doing running for Republican President of the USA?
It’d be great to see LTC Allen West team up with Trump for the 2016 ticket. ............................ West the war criminal? The officer that fired a pistol behind an interrogee? The media would love that. Does Trump even know West? I’ll leave the choice to Trump if he wins, my gut feeling is he’ll know who to pick in this game of voting chess. Its Trump verses the Media.

Well, a FREE BOOK helps to explain Iowa, but that bogus National Poll is made for the GOP Debate and on that, I am willing to bet the farm I don’t own.
Somehow the descriptor ‘Perot Bloc’ stuck.
They are white blue collar voters but they are not democrats, so they are not the Reagan democrats but are similar to those.
They are registered republican and independent.
Perot Bloc is a better descriptor than ‘White Voters’.
I think Trump has their attention.
CNBC has this debate, so we can expect attacks on Trump, the cone of silence for Cruz, and lots of air time for Carson, Fiorini, and Bush. IOW, same old, same old.
However, CNBC needs some kind of different approach so they don’t look like unimaginative copycats.
I was thinking they’d bring in a mud pit and some WWE refs and have them mud wrestle, but Fiorini in mud pack was too much even for them.
So, I think it’s time for a ‘gotcha, in the weeds type fiasco’. They’re going to ask them to recite for each other the capitals of all the provinces in Russia and China. YOU don’t KNOW the capital of the URALS?

I don't necessarily think that all white non-voters are part of the "Perot" block. So I'm still highly skeptical that "four million Republicans" stayed home in 2012.
You can make a case that US voters SHOULD have increased by about 1 million Republicans based on population increase, but that's not a given and that's certainly not four million.

I think his conservatism is questionable. Wanting a 500% increase in H1Bs, TPP, and saying nothing about his illegal immigration plan is the problem with conservatives. Don’t know about the rest of the base.
