White House Disagrees With F.B.I. Chief on Scrutiny as a Cause of Crime
New York Times ^ | October 26, 2015 | MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT and MATT APUZZO

WASHINGTON — The White House said Monday that it did not agree with the assertion last week by the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, that additional scrutiny of law enforcement in the past year may have made police officers less aggressive, leading to a rise in violent crime in some cities.

“The evidence we have seen so far doesn’t support the contention that law enforcement officials are shirking their responsibilities,” the White House press secretary, Josh Earnest, said in response to a question about Mr. Comey at his daily briefing. “In fact, you hear law enforcement leaders across the country indicating that that’s not what’s taking place,”

In a speech at the University of Chicago on Friday, the F.B.I. director said there might be many factors — like cheaper drugs and easier access to guns — that had spawned an increase in crime. But none of them were as convincing to him as the notion that officers were afraid to get out of their patrol cars and deal directly with people on the street because the officers were afraid their interactions would be caught on video.

Mr. Comey acknowledged there was no data to back it up, but he said law enforcement leaders and officers had told him it was affecting policing.

“I spoke to officers privately in one big city precinct who described being surrounded by young people with mobile phone cameras held high, taunting them the moment they get out of their cars,” Mr. Comey said. “They told me, ‘We feel like we’re under siege and we don’t feel much like getting out of our cars.’ ”

Very soon, the FBI is going to be making a decision on what to charge Hillary Clinton with, regarding her email stuff, as well as Benghazi.

This is the first time I can recall Obama disagreeing with Comey on anything. And .. therefore .. I’m wondering if this is the beginning of the Admin’s disapproval of Comey; causing the DOJ to stop him from charging Hillary with anything ..??

But Obama's Rasputin, Valerie Jarrett hates Clinton. But Biden just denied Maureen Dowd's story about Beau Biden begging his father to run while on his deathbed.

So the Obama Justice department should prosecute Clinton. Which the FBI wouldn't want to do because they are fighting with Obama? Unless Obama is setting up a scenario where he has "plausible deniability" about influencing a prosecution of Clinton.

This is all getting waaaaaaaay too complicated.

Those circumstances....the lack of “power”

Makes some cops, u der certain cicumstances like we are in now, pull back.

They make a logical decision to act like a fireman....wait for the 911 call to come in and a dispatcher to send you to the call.

Don’t go look for crime because you are spinning the roulette wheel and hoping it doesn’t land on your number...hoping yoy are not the next Darren Wilson.

Always political spin in even the headlines of the NYT.

“Scrutiny” of police?

How about, police getting indicted for doing their jobs have decided to let certain areas to undergo a ‘purge’ time and fend for themselves?

That’s what’s actually taking place. It’s the risk of losing your career and potentially your freedom vs. helping people who apparently don’t want to be helped.

I agree .. and that’s the way the DemocRATS want it.

They believe we’re too stupid to figure this stuff out .. so they play their games expecting we won’t catch on.

Actually, we’re way beyond “catching on” .. we’re figuring stuff out even before it happens. Which is amazing.

Yet more brainless denial from the goofs in the White House.

Poverty and hopelessness is the rut cause. A weird surgeon general said so once, so it must be true.

Maybe if you have a few riots, they’ll try to calm you down. It works for the Palis.

It must take a lot of character and determination to police in neighborhoods where the people are calling for you to be killed. Especially when the President of the United States and the Democratic Party of America and the Department of Justice and radical terrorist groups all agree that doing your job is racist and that you would be better off not doing your job just letting them kill each other.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anybody say that Jarrett hates Hillary. Wow! That’s very, very interesting.

So, I’m thinking the current admin want Hillary to run and get TROUNCED .. to the point that she is totally destroyed regarding any re-campaign ideas.

You can only have one Queen Bee.

“The White House said”.... I hate it when they do that. That building didn’t say anything. Somebody at the White House (who doesn’t want to be identified) said something.
