University of Mississippi removed the state flag on its Oxford campus Monday morning because the banner contains the Confederate battle emblem, which some see as a painful reminder of slavery and segregation.

I think this whole movement is a plot to get more blacks to move out of the racist liberal North to the South.
I hope the state simply seizes their tainted money back from the school.
Oh, they are coming for the Stars and Stripes next, it’s already starting.
Applicant: Yes I did.
Employer: You did not vote to keep the flag did you?
Applicant: NO! I voted to git rid of that racist symbol.
Employer: It will take several weeks to process your application and compare it to the other applicants, we will contact you if you chosen for the position.
Later after the applicant has left the office: G— D-— SJW’s, we wont hire that idiot.
I guess a white blonde cheerleader from a prominent Delta will no longer suffice
The most widespread Klan ever in early 1900s was mostly a northern thing
Three klans pretty much
The Reconstruction era klan we can argue to pieces here and do
Thaddeus and Sumner versus Forrest and Wheeler pick yer favorites
Then the early 1900s anti black anti Catholic anti immigrant klan which was mostly a Yankee klan
Then lastly the segregation era Klan which reached its zenith killing civil rights activists and intimidating voting rights movements which was mostly a Southern klan
Today the Klan is insignificant but those who do it are pretty much Midwestern and mid south and a few Deep South
I could be wrong but they exist mostly in the minds of the paranoid and Hollywood today
Even in my youth in Mississippi b1957 they were much stronger but still eschewed by reasonable folks as tacky at best
The middle klan was the high water mark
Oxford is a lost cause for now not worth fretting over
Can’t fix stupid.
it’s good to see they aren’t teaching history in school these days.
the confederate battle flag is gen. lee’s flag from the army of northern virginia. it was flown for four years during the civil war. no slaves were purchased under that flag.
the flags true purpose and origin is in defiance of federal tyranny.
that’s just a fact.
another fact would be that the democrat party was fighting to protect slavery. after they lost the civil war, they started the KKK to continue their racist agenda. it hasn’t stopped.
“Oxford is a lost cause for now not worth fretting over”
Yep. Esau gets his pottage and is done.
Great photo of democrats being themselves. Was it taken during the Progressive Woodrow Wilson administration?
I believe that picture was taken during the 1920’s.
That would be the PC thing to do.
Thank you for your reply, you are the only person who answered my question with information versus a wise crack.
>> Many Mississippi Black state politicians were in favour of the current flag <<
Yes, a few were in favor. But I don’t think it’s accurate to say there were “many.”
>> The flag was adopted almost unanimously in 1894 by black and white Mississippi politicians alike <<
Almost? After the adoption of the 1890 constitution, the Democrats were able to oust almost all blacks from the legislature, and by 1893 there were only three blacks left.
Im looking for the context for including it on the state flag.
Then I said: “Something about being invaded and their families killed.”
If you think my comment was made in jest, you are wrong.
