When the Czech Republic "declared" itself independent of the Slovaks, everyone knew that it was a WIN for the Czechs and a total loss for the Slovaks. The latter were the burden on the country, dependent on anyone else.

We traveled THROUGH the country, FROM somewhere else TO somewhere else. There is nothing there, no industry, no farming beyond subsistence...a perfect satellite country for the Soviets. Now they are hurting and can't lean on the Czecks any more.

SAD state of affairs there.

The Slovenes are a different people from the Slovaks. Slovenia was once part of Yugoslavia.

I went to Slovakia this year and you couldn’t be more wrong. Slovakia is doing great. Bratislava is a great city, all the amenities of a European capital, just smaller.

Are you confusing the Slovenians with the Slovaks? My post referred to tiny Slovenia being invaded. Slovakia is also small but bigger than Slovenia,

Slovaks are from the country known as Slovakia. Slovenia is another country entirely.
