Ben Carson has answered critics who say he lacks energy for the Republican presidential fight, saying that in contrast to his softly spoken demeanour as an adult he was “very volatile” as a teenager, when he “would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers”.

On NBC, Carson continued: “I am soft-spoken. I do have a tendency to be relaxed. I wasn’t always like that. There was a time when I was, you know, very volatile. But, you know, I changed.
“As a teenager, I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers. And, of course, many people know the story when I was 14 and I tried to stab someone. And, you know, fortunately … my life has been changed. And I’m a very different person now.”

Asked by NBC host Chuck Todd if such statements would hamstring his aspirations to the presidency, Carson said: “…As people get to know me, they know that I’m not a hateful, pathological person like some people try to make me out to be. And that will be self-evident.”

Trump has already stated he’d like to get rid of the Dept. of Education. You know, Trump, and for that matter any of the candidates, aren’t going to be answering every conceivable question that’s out there, lol. Talk about unreasonable expectations. Many decisions will have to wait for whoever wins the election to actually be on the job, in order to know all the facts of a particular issue before decisions on the proper course of action to take can be made.
And you don’t, as a candidate, cast yourself in concrete as to what you will do on certain issues, thus giving away the store before you are even in the front door. That’s ridiculous.

I think if he wanted to show his energy level it would be better for Mrs. Carson to boast about his bedroom performance than this

True. But I'm undecided on this one. Conventional rules are out the window this cycle.
Right now he is the Anti-Trump outsider and that is it. Now that he leads in Iowa he will be looked at more closely and it doesn’t appear that this will work to his benefit. He was better off being quiet and in second place.
Trump has been going just about non-stop since he got in. I can only imagine what he would be able to accomplish, with his drive. Amazing.

Forgot about his religion. I don’t know which is worse, a pacifist president or one who tried to stab people, and then talks about it.
Lots of self-righteous “Christians” love to talk about how bad they were. It’s not so much to highlight the saving power of Christ as it is to give them street cred among the more mundane sinners.

I have been known to let loose my temper in my 75+++ years.
However, I NEVER have used any of the weapons described by a man who wants to be the President of the USA.
My voice worked quite well, and my other best weapon was the complete withdrawal of my support and services.
Some weeks ago, Carson said HE would NOT have shot Michael Brown—he would called for assistance & waited for other officers. Apparently, no one has even totally explained the timeline of events surrounding the death of Michael Brown.
This is frightening to learn about Carson.

For anyone wrestling with bad habits, it seems that the opposite extreme is just as bad as the habit. Dr. Carson needs to find the balance. And due to his previously violent nature, he also said he would not have attacked the Taliban after 9/11.
Pacifist CIC = bad news.
