Donald Trump to rivals: Give up your super PACs
businessinsider.com ^ | Colin Campbell

Real-estate mogul Donald Trump released a statement on Friday calling on every presidential candidate to drop their so-called super PACs.

"I have disavowed all Super PAC's, requested the return of all donations made to said PAC's, and I am calling on all Presidential candidates to do the same," Trump said.

Super PACs, which can raise and spend unlimited funds, are required to be independent of the campaigns they support, though some candidates blur the lines more than others.

Trump's statement came one day after Politico reported that the main super PAC backing his campaign, Make America Great Again PAC, was closing shop.

The PAC said it decided to shutter because Trump indicated that he didn't want a super PAC, but the decision followed increasing media scrutiny on the connections between Trump's campaign and the supposedly independent operation.

Okay. Have it your way, then.

Donald Trump is a hypocrite for coordinating his own PAC while criticizing others for having a PAC.

RMFAO.

And you suggest this makes candidate Trump, who is not using DC insider/corporate run PAC's, a hypocrite?

Did you even read the article. The article said that Trump had a super PAC.

No, I am asking *you* right here, right now, what political PAC Trump owns?

Does it have a name? Can you provide a link?

Trump didn't set up that PAC...he closed it down.

Come on Jedi...you are better than that.

At least deal in facts.

Now you're playing sematic games using the word "owns".

My original post stands.

"Super Pacs aren't for the candidate to give up. They are independent."

Actually, most of Trump's expenses have been paid out of the contributions of small donors.

Those under $58.00 per voter/contributor IIRC.

Trump brags about buying politicians for his entire career, now that he's one, he suddenly is against politicians being for sale.

Trump's met the silver-spoon, pampered rich guy who pulls his puppet strings, and he is him.

The article links to this earlier article which exposed Trump and his staff’s participation in the SuperPAC. This article is why Trump had to come out and disavow the SuperPAC. His participation in it was exposed and once he got caught, he had to get it shut down in order to stop exposing himself to being labeled a hypocrite.

“This summer, Trump appeared at at least two events for the Make America Great Again PAC, which took his campaign slogan as its name and received financing from his daughter’s mother-in-law. A consultant for the super PAC is a Republican operative who has previously worked with Trump’s campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, according to several people with direct knowledge of their ties.”

"Trump just took the hypocritic oath."

No, no.

It's a chess move. Or Sun-Tzu. Or part of a mysterious genius plan.

Or something.

Jedi Jones. Do you trust WaPo to tell the truth about any republican candidate?

That is the source you are quoting.

God forbid that I am wrong and Trump is as evil as you suggest.

You might be right. I don't know.

But the rational side of my brain tells me you are wrong.

Only time will tell.

Thank you for your diligent effort.

I hope you are wrong...but we will see.

I asked *you* 3 times, what political PAC candidate Trump owns, runs or is being supported by.

Do I have to answer for you?

You have embarrassed yourself beyond repair. Seppuku is your future if you have any integrity.

Of course, we know you don't.

But you are welcome to spend time with the little kitties on my about me page.

I don’t think it’s evil to use a SuperPAC. I agree with their original rationale that it’s better to have one to prevent “fake” ones from cropping up claiming to be supporting Trump just to collect money for themselves. But Trump was very disingenuous in so many speeches bashing other candidates for having SuperPACs when people he was connected with donated and were involved in organizing his SuperPAC and he appeared at fundraisers for it.

It is more honest for a billionaire to run that it is for a guy who is not a billionaire, to run, but takes a billionaires money to run and do the billionaires bidding.

Political PACs are run by well connected insiders, corporations and influence peddlers who are shakedown artists for special interest groups. This is certainly no secret.

Are you not aware of this?
