Real-estate mogul Donald Trump released a statement on Friday calling on every presidential candidate to drop their so-called super PACs.
"I have disavowed all Super PAC's, requested the return of all donations made to said PAC's, and I am calling on all Presidential candidates to do the same," Trump said.
Super PACs, which can raise and spend unlimited funds, are required to be independent of the campaigns they support, though some candidates blur the lines more than others.
Trump's statement came one day after Politico reported that the main super PAC backing his campaign, Make America Great Again PAC, was closing shop.
The PAC said it decided to shutter because Trump indicated that he didn't want a super PAC, but the decision followed increasing media scrutiny on the connections between Trump's campaign and the supposedly independent operation.

Money corrupts and being beholden to it is why RINOs exist. It would be a good move by everyone.... although these days elections are bought and paid for.
So if Trump donates millions to a candidate, that candidate is corrupted by Trump.
But if Trump spends the millions on his own campaign, he’s squeaky clean and someone who’s fighting for us?
My point is that it’s not bad for someone to spend millions on a campaign if you agree with their positions. In that case the money is lifting you up, not corrupting you.
Stop.
No, Trump was simply, at that time, giving his money to the politicians doing all of those things you mention.
But I’m sure you’ll soon tell me he had to give his money to the corrupt thieves so he could amass his fortune. And he had to give 6 figures worth of his treasure to the Clinton fund, and he had to invite the Clintons to his wedding.
“But if Trump spends the millions on his own campaign, hes squeaky clean and someone whos fighting for us?”
Of course.
A candidate won’t have to be flexible on their positions because they took money from.... themselves. When they take money from others - big money from powerful donors - those donors expect something in return.
That’s why we see the uber-rich donating to numerous campaigns. That way no matter who wins, they can call in a favor.
DC is as corrupt as they come. Evil.
At that time he was donating along with everyone else? OK.
But that has what to do with what is happening right here, right now?
You must have him confused with someone else.
Research is a valuable treatment for ignorance.
Oh, and wealth envy isn’t pretty....especially on a conservative site.
I didn’t know 7th Dayers don’t celebrate Christmas. Interesting.
It is not a biblical feast.
There are a lot of people sticking up for the donor class here.
Strange, isn’t it?
Donald knows how to smoke em out, doesn’t he?
Sounds like one of the churches of Christ sects.
Google millerite.
Better check out PACs. There can be no coordination between PACs and candidate. That is where I have issue. I have no issue with folks/groups having money and spending as they legally will. I do have issues with super PACs collecting in the name of a candidate and spending donated money on things not representing that candidate. Do you really believe that Ted Cruz wanted money given supposedly for him to go to Fiorina??
Very, very strange. A real eye opener.
Yes. As I pointed out to another poster earlier in the thread... "Super Pacs aren't for the candidate to give up. They are independent."
ROFL!
Correct but they can as Trump did request that contributions not be collected in their name which would then make it fraud. Contributions should be given to the candidates campaign under their control. Any money collected by a PAC could then be deemed to be spent on whatever “issue” the PAC and contributors agree upon.
So, Donald, why don’t you not use your own funds for this election and join the little people.
Maybe it's time for PAC's like the one who supports Cruz to send another $500,000 to Fiorina. It's all independent and perfectly legitimate right?☺
