Vice President Biden announced Wednesday that he will not run for president, ending months of feverish speculation over his 2016 plans and likely settling the Democratic field.
Speaking in the Rose Garden alongside his wife Jill and President Obama, Biden said the window of opportunity to mount a viable campaign "has closed." He has been weighing a decision since summer, but cautioned all along that he and his family were grieving over the loss of his son Beau Biden -- and said Wednesday he knew that process could outlast the window for making a decision.
"Unfortunately I believe we're out of time, the time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination," Biden said.

Her Presidency too. Both terms.
Three letter word -no.
So he disregards his deceased son’s last stated desire?
“Add yours here.”
4) It’s all a dog and pony show. 0bama knows they are going to take Hillary down. When they do, all the sudden Crazy Uncle Joe will heroically jump in the race to save the party.
I’ve always been kind of partial to the “I’m pretty sure I’m smarter than you” interview....
Believe it or not, I think he would have been their strongest candidate.
He’s still the odds on choice if Hillary has to withdraw because of legal problems.
If she withdraws he will inherit the majority of support at the convention when the votes for the nominee will be counted—and will count.
It’s a no risk proposition for Biden.
I wonder if Gore is thinking about it.
One Democrat who apparently isn’t thinking about it this year but could give Hitlery a run for her money is Andrew Cuomo. According to the New York Post, he’s targeting 2020. He thinks this is a GOP year too.
>> He knows its a Republican year.
I think you called it.
He's not, but voting reliably RAT in Chicago.
He would be historic in his own way, though — we’ve never had a president named Joe.
“Even if Trump were to win, she will be ready with an arsenal of attack that will turn Trump into the Hindenburg.’
Not so sure about that. Nothing sticks to Trump. Everything they have tried so far has failed to take him down. Trump may be a RINO in many aspects, but his not a squishy soft RINO like McCain or Romney. He’s tough and he fights back.
That being said, Ted Cruz is still my horse in this race.
Disabled and with a Spanish surname.
Joe ‘Took one for the Team’. He has now opened America up to the political option of diving headlong into total European style socialism or trying to return to a constitutional free enterprise based republic. His speech, what I could stomach of it promised just that. That is as close as I have come to a full fledged BAAARF since last I listened to Obama.
Hillary is the nominee.
guaranteed.
Trump v Hillary = Trump wins in a landslide.
She may just choose BIDEN as her running mate! Perhaps that was the deal that was struck.
What about Warren?
