...a high-profile event in New York City hosted by Ivanka Trump and her husband, businessman Jared Kushner.

According to RollCall.com, Trump and Kushner have bundled contributions totaling more than $40,000 for Booker's campaign...

Trump's involvement with a Democratic campaign is a sharp contrast to her family's tendency to side with Republican candidates in the past.

In 2012, she and real estate mogul father Donald Trump praised Mitt Romney's business sense and endorsed him in the presidential election against Barack Obama.

“It portrays Melania as shy and reticent”

Perfect. We don’t need a President’s wife who thinks she is empress.

Soon we’ll be told Trump’s whole family had to help Democrats win so they can operate their business in Ny. Meanwhile, there are Conservative business owners who don’t sellout their principals and are willing to take flack from democrats.

Or acceptance from her dad’s campaign. That article you linked showed that Trump fired an advisor this summer who had a history of showing he was a genuine conservative on Facebook:

Cory Booker’s no saint, that’s for sure. Who can deny he epitomizes the NJ politician?

And as soon as Ivanka throws her hat in the ring for POTUS I’ll start worrying about it.

I agree with everything u say here. I am a strong supporter of Trump but seeing Ivanka and Chelsea together is revolting.

Yes, but you don’t see conservatives fawning all over the ballerina.

On the other hand, some on this site can’t fawn over Ivanka Trump, the feminist who quotes Lena Dunham, enough.

This is the Trump family. They give to the most odious leftist politicians if it suits their purposes. Trump, by his own admission, has been doing that forever when he is wearing his “business” hat.

So now Trump is wearing his “campaign” hat and saying and doing whatever is necessary to advance his candidacy.

What makes Trump supporters believe, especially based on “the Donald’s” long list of liberal positions, flip flops and support for liberal politicians, that if elected he won’t wear his “now elected to office” hat and discard all the stuff he’s been saying as a candidate. He does, afterall, say he is a deal maker. Do Trumpsters really want a guy who will cut deals with Democrats on the 2nd amendment for example? Or would it be better to have an actual conservative in office that would hold the line on critical issues such as that?

With Trump’s record of taking whatever positions were expedient and funding whatever politicians were necessary to get his way, why do Trumpsters think he would not continue this behavior as President?

Not to mention his own family will be running his business so he has a built-on conflict of interest. He’s made it clear how he’s been so vulnerable to politicians over the years that he had to buy them off to make his business successful. So if some Democrat state or local official was going to block a project his kids wanted for the business, he might up end cutting a deal with the Democrats in Congress so sell out the 2nd amendment or something else with the “understanding” that the wheels would be greased for his kids afterward.

Ron Reagan Jr was 22 years old during Reagan’s campaign in 1980. And Junior had no interest in starting or running big business.

Ivanka on the other hand is handling hundreds of million dollars worth business interests. And her home base is in NY city. Do you really think it would be smart for her to shun all democrats on East coast?

I worked part time consulting for a bridge inspection business in Chicago. It was a small privately owned business. The owner and I had lunch together every Saturday to discuss projects. He was a religious Catholic and social conservative. Guess whom he donated to? Mayor Richard J Daley, head of democrat machine. For the simple reason he wanted to keep his business contracts with the city.

I am looking for America first president, not necessarily a republican first president.

And who’s to say once he’s President, Trump won’t make more deals with Democrats to send some sweetheart deals towards his family business? Like he says, he knows how the game works better than anybody. Pelosi and others have gotten in trouble for passing legislation that benefitted their spouses or family members too. Looks like we could be in for more of the same with Trump.

I am looking for America first president, not necessarily a republican first president.

I don't think I mentioned Republican in my post at all, I said "conservative". Trump is NOT a conservative, is not grounded in conservative thought or ideology.

If you are not a conservative, why are you on a conservative forum?

Do you think Trump's support of the Kelo decisions is conservative? How about his believe that his pro abortion sister would make a wonderful Supreme Court judge? Or maybe you think his belief that socialized health care works great in Canada and really terrific in Ireland is conservative thinking?

Trump is a Republican out of opportunism, and he has identified that a large chuck of Republican voters are apparently more populist, protectionists and nationalist than they are conservative - at least when captivated by a polished realityTV star host.

Got news for you. 99% of all politicians choose their party out of opportunism, not out of deep-held political beliefs. They play the role they think gives them the best chance of being elected.

Eh, that is true in many cases. But again, we are talking about conservatism, not party label. If the Democrats were running a real conservative then I doubt many people here would have any issues with conservatives voting for said conservative candidate - even though he/she is not in the traditionally right of center party.

The problem is Trump is simply not a conservative. Period. His record is clear. His positions are all over the place, he is not grounded in conservative thought, he's spent just as much time identifying as a man of the left than one of the right. His political donations make clear he doesn't much care who he supports as long as it helps him advance the Trump brand. None of that is the mark of someone who is a conservative thinker.

There is nothing...I mean absolutely nothing more conservative, than deporting illegals, and eliminating the $400 Billion trade deficits EVERY YEAR with China. Jobs can not increase if we keep having these humongous trade deficits.

Only Trump is therefore the most conservative candidate in 2016, since no other candidate is capable of negotiating trade deals as good as Trump.

There is nothing...I mean absolutely nothing more conservative, than deporting illegals..

That one's easy. Trump opposed doing just that in the 2012 cycle. Even going so far as to say Romney of all people was too TOUGH on illegals by wanting to enforce eVerify which would dry up the jobs illegals take and encouraging them to "self deport" or not come here in the first place.

Now you and Trump expect us to believe "the Donald" is tough on illegal immigration. Has he "evolved" yet again?

LOL, Trump isn't going to squat about illegals if he got elected. He's a deal maker by his own admission and, also by his own words, claims he can work with the other side.

Most likely Trump would only ramp up enforcement of deporting illegal felons and do nothing else. He couldn't even support Romney's only good position of using eVerify to tackle the problem - Trump said that Romney was too tough on the issue and it cost him the Latino vote.
