But you're not just backing KGB/FSB Putin, and hoping that the US does absolutely nothing about their obvious expansionist intentions there and in Eastern Europe, and/or for reasons of avoiding a war over it. You stand behind Putin on everything. Cruz's solution is what I myself have said here previously: For the US to step up its attacks on ISIS, leaving Russia no legit excuse for getting in the way. Problem with that is, Obama and Putin are likely in cahoots in the Russia takeover scheme. So he won't likely do it.
