I don’t think that it was sabotage, I think that it is stupidity and incompetence.
If you have ever worked with any of these people, you might have noticed that they are completely blinded by devotion to their agenda. They don’t let facts get in their way and they never investigate the possibility that they could be wrong. It is always, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead.
