President tells CBS's Steve Kroft in interview previewed on-air Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin's moves into Syria are out of weakness, not strength
US has abandoned $500 million to train and arm rebels fighting to remove Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad from power
(snip)
'He's moved troops into Syria, for one. He's got people on the ground,' Kroft said.
'Two, the Russians are conducting military operations in the Middle East for the first time since World War II... Bombing the people we are supporting.'
'He's challenging your leadership, Mr. President. He's challenging your leadership.'
Obama replied, 'So that's leading, Steve?'
'Rather than being able to count on their support and maintain the base they had in Syria, which they've had for a long time, Mr. Putin now is devoting- his own troops, his own military, just to barely hold together by a thread his sole ally.'
'Steve, I got to tell you, if you think that running your economy into the ground and having to send troops in, in order to prop up your only ally is leadership, then we've got a different definition of leadership.'

Hilarious seeing Obama accuse ANYBODY of weakness...pot...kettle....
Obama finally did something I can agree with. He finally realized he made a mistake and cut bait rather then doubling down on his mistake.
WHICH drugs does Valerie Jarrett give Obama
before she sends him to watch ESPN or out to play golf?
The only Moderate Muslims are Dead Muslims and I would still check them for Booby traps
The silly propaganda from the White House is as bad as the stuff they feed their people in North Korea.
OK, Obama I agree the war in Syria is a sign of weakness. It is a sign of OBAMA’S WEAKNESS! Or BETRAYAL!
Why train rebels?
There are much cheaper ways to ship US paid arms into the hands of ISIL.
This is a geopolitical move of historic proportions. Putin is just getting started. Obama is about to see who the weak one really is.
LOL!!! See my middle finger? I got your “weakness” right here!
As much as the West does not like it,there are no realistic alternatives to the best of a bad situation Assad.None, zilch, zero. The fact as a matter of hindsight is Obama backed the wrong horse when he backed the rebels and he does not want to eat crow this late in the game by admitting he was strategically wrong. The existence of “moderate” rebels are not so much a solution as they are a Western fictional storyline to hold out the pretense that there is an alternative to Assad and justify the West do nothing position while criticizing Russian overreach. They do not exist in any sizable force. The best thing President Obama can do right now is to stay irrelevant and whine on the sidelines while the Russians handle this thing and no doubt will collect some of the spoils.
And I suppose the wimp claims the same for riding a motorcycle!
In other words, look for the "Free Syrian Army" Sunni hordes swarming into America (paid for by the US government) to establish the "New Caliphate Army".
When will this nightmare end? It has lasted almost 7 years now.
unbelievable, it’s like the kid lying on the ground with a broken bloody nose, black eye, swollen lip, whimpering like a jilted schoolgirl exclaiming “I won because so and so showed weakness while pounding the snot out of me”
I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again - it’s simply impossible to shame a liberal- You can not humiliate an extreme lelft liberal either- they are simply too stupid to be humiliated
You just can’t make this stuff up.
Times like these I wish we had a president Trump
Disagree. The real enemies are not ISIS, they are Iran and its agents, namely Assad and Putin. Assad is a butcher who has almost no support in Syria left, except for the small minority of Alawites, is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Syrians (and the making of refugees of millions of them). He should be hanging from a lamppost by now, just like Mussolini. And if that’s not bad enough, he is now a satrap of the Mullahs in Iran. And Putin, who is tight with both Assad and Iran, wants to make sure his friend stays in power, Russia’s navy (what there is of it) has a warm water port on the Med, and has a base within striking distance of Israel and Mid East oil. And don’t forget, it was Iran, not ISIS, who kept over 50 Americans hostage for 444 days in our embassy! Iran has not gotten payback or any sort of “karma” for that. Seriously, even an ISIS controlled Syria would be better for the USA, Israel and the Syrian people themselves than what they’ve got now.
