Ted Cruz says Donald Trump won't be Republican nominee
washington times ^ | 10/8/2015 | Seth McLaughlin

Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday that he doesn’t think that Donald Trump will capture the 2016 GOP presidential nomination and predicted that it is only a matter of time before most of the New York billionaire’s supporters will move into his camp. During an appearance on WABC-AM Radio, host Rita Cosby asked Mr. Cruz whether he would eventually move past Mr. Trump based on his conservative principles, and the Texas Republcian said “I think that’s right.” “In time, I don’t believe Donald is going to be the nominee, and I think in time the lion’s share of his supporters end up with us,” Mr. Cruz said. Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination and has touted how some of his rivals have sunk in the polls after attacking him. But he has not traded barbs with Mr. Cruz, who has been Mr. Trump’s biggest ally in the crowded GOP field. In the WABC-AM interview, Mr. Cruz continued to praise Mr. Trump, saying he liked and respected “Donald.” Mr. Cruz said Mr. Trump has boosted his candidacy and his chance of becoming the party’s standard-bearer. “I think his involvement has been tremendously helpful to my campaign because it has framed the central question of the primary as: Who will stand up to Washington?” Mr. Cruz said. “And if that’s the central question, the natural next question, that any voter will ask is okay, well who actually has stood up to Washington? Who has a record in that regard?” The Cruz campaign also announced Thursday that he will report raising $12.2 million over the last three months — exceeding the hauls of fellow Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, who plans to report $6 million, and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who raised $2.5 million.

Maybe Mr Mercer (Ted’s hedge fund guy) gave the directive for Ted to trash talk Trump...since Trump’s always going after hedge fund guys.

I thought it was odd, the other day, after all of the exposing Trump has done of the extortion group CFG, for Cruz to be the SOLE speaker at their upcoming conference ....

“Oh boy. He may have stepped into it.
Do people know something supporters of Trump don’t?”

Wow and what? Cruz is a 6 and 7% all day long..everyday in most polling. Am I missing something? I love Trump but always admire Cruz, but he’s not winnable in my opinion. He’s too caught up in DC as a senator to get a win in the general population. The movement is against them and wants an outsider with clout, brains and TOUGHNESS!

I think Trump drops out when Jeb does...Cruz will pick up Trumps votes and he has the infrastructure and grass roots +cash to defeat the establishment. Trump IMO is in this to keep Jeb out...he hates what the Bush did in Iraq...I think this plan was hatched months ago.

After seeing your tag line I wanted to tell you that I stick by my 3 month old prediction that Trump will eventually endorse Cruz.

Well, there goes the Trump/Cruz "Dream Team", lol.

Not that Cruz would ever be selected as Trump's veep...unfortunately he brings NADA to a ticket, any ticket, as a veep. No charisma, mired in the middle polls from the beginning, weird looks, wooden body language, weird looks, no "it".....

I posted weeks ago on this forum that I have an instinctive feeling that Trump will chose someone conservative we won't expect, but someone that we'll really be wildly enthusiastic about...as will the voting public.

GO TRUMP !

Don’t forget the $500K donation by his PAC to the Carly campaign, keeping her afloat.

I was for Cruz from the beginning.....from the beginning.

Shortly beforeTrump, Cruz came across my radar with some ...not conservative....positions that I found untenable.
To me, he is no longer the one and only.
Trump has taken that position.

I’ll thank you to vote for whoever or whomever you want, and stop insulting others.

Yes, Corker - signing on with the rest of them to enable Iran.

TPA to allow the current TPP treason that will decimate our sovereignty and border security.

Conservative in speeches, yes. Votes? Not so much.

...”EVERYTHING being brought to the forefront, on this election, is due to TRUMP....immigration, the wall, our vets, tax reform, etc.”....

Well actually the media has been who’s put Trump in the front row because all the candidates have spoken about these issues....and Cruz has actually been fighting on these for some time in Washington as we know.

Cruz would not be saying these things now regarding winning over Trump if it was not carefully planned, and be sure that Trump knew this was coming beforehand.

I hope you know what you’re doing here Ted. You mess with the bull, you get the horns.

I have a hard time undertaking people that, on one hand, a gaga over Trump, comparing him to Reagan and JFk - and alluding him to the kind of Old Time rough and tough men portrayed by Clint Eastwood - and to his (Trumps) nastiness in referring to others as the kind of bravado we need

- and then make remarks about how we don't want Cruz because he doesn't "get along" with with the other senators????

Here, he makes some simple statements. No name calling. No frothing. No attack. And he may have 'stepped in it" - Is no one to say naught about Trump? (Sounds like the bully on the playground. No one better say anything to make him mad. You think O'bummer is adamant about having his own way. Elect Trump and watch...) )

So exactly how do you think the Donald would have handled Corker or TPP differently given the circumstances?

Fact is that Trump has never had to answer for a vote and has never had to defend the Constitution. Trump has bragged about graft and has held positions all along the political spectrum in recent years. Cruz is not perfect, but to keep bringing up corker and tpp on every Cruz thread when your guy has many times more warts is a little irrational.

Cruz has no broad appeal. Furthermore, he's bad on immigration (his rhetoric against amnesty is lawyer-spin. He redefines amnesty to only mean a pathway to citizenship. He still supports granting legal status, which by the way is the backdoor path to citizenship anyhow) and on trade, screwing us on fast track.

Cruz has no chance.
