The media act as if they're performing a public service by refusing to release details about the perpetrator of the recent mass shooting at a community college in Oregon. But we were given plenty of information about Dylan Roof, Adam Lanza, James Holmes and Jared Loughner.
Now, quick: Name the mass shooters at the Chattanooga military recruitment center; the Washington Navy Yard; the high school in Washington state; Fort Hood (the second time) and the Christian college in California. All those shootings also occurred during the last three years.
The answers are: Mohammad Youssuf Abdulazeez, Kuwaiti; Aaron Alexis, black, possibly Barbadian-American; Jaylen Ray Fryberg, Indian; Ivan Antonio Lopez, Hispanic; and One L. Goh, Korean immigrant. (While I'm here: Why are we bringing in immigrants who are mentally unstable?)
There's a rigid formula in media accounts of mass shootings: If possible, blame it on angry white men; when that won't work, blame it on guns.
The perpetrator of the latest massacre, Chris Harper-Mercer, was a half-black immigrant, so the media are refusing to get too specific about him. They don't want to reward the fiend with publicity!
But as people hear details the media are not anxious to provide, they realize that, once again: It's a crazy person. How long is this going to go on?

And it ain’t guns with black men...
I have to disagree with Trump for once.
We’ve had guns and mentally unstable people in this country for over 200 years. Only in the past 50 years or so have these mass or “spree” shootings been common.
I think it’s more a morals problem. Put mentally unstable together with no morals then you’re getting somewhere. Mentally unstable has been with us since people believed the world was flat. Only recently has it become demonstrably associated with mass shootings. Mental instability probably plays a part, but before the country went morally bankrupt this type of event was very uncommon.
We closed all the state mental facilities that at one time housed the schizophrenics and mentally divergent who are often a danger to themselves and others.
Now instead of family members and doctors deciding if a person should be institutionalized, lawyers dressed in black robes make that decision. Like most thing lawyers get involved with, the mental health system is now all fu@ked up.
Actually about 40 years ago we started closing mental institutions and putting the dangerously mentally ill out in the community.
Morals probably play a role as well, but the problem is mainly that we allow the known dangerous lunatics to roam the streets.
Judges (with input from family members and physicians) should make the decision whether to institutionize people, but they should be doing it more frequently.
Mass shootings in those unprotected, government-sponsored, “gun free” slaughter zones allow for amplification/implementation of the agenda. The federales are here to help us dontcha know...

witness Barry’s fundamentally transforming epic in Rosenberg coming up.
So true...been talked about at least a thousand times but nothing is ever proposed, much less done about it.
The plain facts are that we have always had this issue. Back in the early 60s when I was growing up, we used to hospitalize them...(with hospital being a far too generous term) but I think it was closer to warehousing them. I saw the inside of some of these facilities...gave me nightmares for months.
This is why, due to public outcry over these old crappy facilities, that we released them onto the streets.
The original fix was wrong, the reaction to the failure was wrong, and now we are were we are.
I would concur to a degree, but SSRI’s do help a lot of people, however it’s been only recently that it became well known that they can also cause violent responses in some young people. They don’t really know why. They barely understand how they work when they do work..
Be careful what you wish for, Ann, or you could be incarcerated for your “mental instability” based on the liberal mindset.
My suggestion: Make the therapist who certifies that a mentally ill person is fit for release bear the burden of legal accountability if the ill person goes off the rails.
Then the therapeutic community will not be so cavalier about inflicting the damage from the mentally ill onto the society.
“...about 40 years ago we started closing mental institutions..”
When a bureaucracy(fed, state or local) is told must cut its budget, as Reagan did, the first things cut are the essentials that will damage the public.. budgets of schools, police departments, etc. This is punishment for daring to trim the sacred cows. The lard is cocooned and protected.
You said “I think its more a morals problem.”
You are absolutely correct! I’ve been preaching that for many years.
Since the mid-60’s when women burned their bras, walked out of the house, threw off their chains of motherhood and abandoned their children to day care centers and sought their own fortunes in employment and business, the cycle began the downhill run until we find ourselves where we are today.
Their theme song was “We are women, hear us roar” was the marching song to the total destruction of the good world we once knew where children were raised with morals, obedience to laws and regulations, conformed to the norms of society, and were actually punished for violation of laws and rules.
The younger on this forum cannot even imagine the days where people obeyed the law, watched each other’s houses and property, and respected the police. They can’t imagine leaving the door to your house unlocked so the milk man could come in a put milk into your refrigerator or the laundry to bring you clothes in and put them in your living room.
MORALS! Something that has been removed from our society and will probably never be replaced in this “brave new world” which I have called for years “the blameless society.”
Finally, a discussion about mental health.
“morals problem”
Yes, but go further - what is the root cause of that? If you say something like, destruction of the family, lack of fathers, allowing illegal immigration... Ok, but what is the root cause of those?
Answer: the loss of Christianity, and the loss of the fear of God, in the lives of most Anericans
How can these heartless Democrats look the parents of dead children in the eye and defend the right of the mentally deranged to store their feces in a shoebox, menace library patrons — and, every now and then, commit mass murder?

It’s easy peasy when you’ve already jumped the ‘heartless shark’ and think murdering babies is a personal right every woman should have and while butchering those babies for money is a wee tad gross, it does give PP’s bottom line a boost.
You know, the issue is not mental health.
Warning mental health is a subjective issue and can be and has been used by the left to kill and imprison.
Very few mentally ill are violent.
The real issue is evil.
Evil propagated by a culture without boundaries. A culture that has not taught a preponderance of its underclass to be good.
