Rush Limbaugh is right: Ted Cruz is most-principled candidate
Washington Times ^ | Monday, October 5, 2015 | Steve Deace

Posted on 10/05/2015 4:42:56 PM PDT by Isara

It seems to me the only principled reason to be a Republican would be to stop, thwart and defeat Leftist ideas you’re opposed to. Therefore, what better standard by which to judge Republican presidential candidates than by who is the most committed to actually defeating the opposition?

And who might that candidate be in 2016? Well, according to the man from whom much of today’s conservative multimedia empire originates, that candidate is Ted Cruz.

“If you’re looking for the Republican candidate who is the most steadfastly opposed to liberalism, whose agenda is oriented towards stopping it, thwarting it, and defeating it – it’s Ted Cruz,” Mr. Limbaugh recently said on his popular radio program.

Let the record show that as usual, Rush is right.

In fact, I challenge anybody reading this to make an objective case there is a more principled candidate in the race than Mr. Cruz — because you can’t. I also work for an organization called Conservative Review, which gives regularly scheduled proctology exams to the records of politicians by charting how they vote on a full spectrum of conservative issues via our “liberty scorecard.” Mr. Cruz currently has our second-highest score at 96 percent, which is second only to Mike Lee.

Except Mr. Cruz does not just settle for voting the right way when it’s all said and done, but he fights back on our behalf against the corruption infesting Washington as well as the “losership” of the Republican Party.

...

Here is the bottom line: If someone doesn’t have a proven history of fighting the corruption in Washington before getting elected, that probably means they’re unlikely to do it after they reach the White House.

Gamble ? More like selling their souls to the highest bidder..

Like I have said, once the DNC nominee is selected many of the Trump supporters will go back and support the DNC nominee.

Many of the Hillary supporters who once supported her did not go to Berney Sanders, where did they go ?

It’s amazing how people can look at the same thing and yet see things so differently.

And then there are those who share the same visions.

Off to bed, have a good night, Catherine.

What the Trump supporters don’t realize it that Donald Trump is pulling their chains.... And he is getting just the reaction from them as he wanted....

This is all planned,

But the carpet will be pulled out from them soon enough leaving them wondering what in the heck happened...

Gnashing of teeth...

Seasoned veterans of election cycles, game show hosts, car sales me know better when they know someone is pulling their chain....

Some people maybe looking, but they refuse to see the obvious...

We warned many here about Obama back in 2008 and we were right, and we are right about Donald Trump.

What the heck could they have been thinking?

It wasn’t so much that there was Freepers supporting Obama back in 2008 ( there could have been trolls secretly supporting him, we don’t know ) but rather in general we warned many on here at Free Republic the disaster to come by electing him.

Many here were right.

I know Christians personally who voted for him.

Charisma does not win battles in the trenches.... Pure grit does...

The best ideas in the world go nowhere without a charismatic person to spread them. Charisma is one of the skills needed for a politician to be effective.

Lucifer masquerades , deciveves many as ( pretends to be ) a “ Angel of light “ .

Lucifer decieves many with charisma.

For before his fall Lucifer was once the great and beautiful angel of light and worship.

Don’t fall for those things that seem appealing to the senses, it could be a trap.

The future Antichrist will decieve many with his so called “ Charisma “.

Lucifer masquerades, pretends to be, comes as a angel of light.

He once was the great and beautiful angel of light and worship.

All that glitters is not gold.

Many are fooled and decieved by those things in which arouse the senses.

Ted Cruz may a principled candidate.
But exactly what is a “Principled Conservative”?

I believe that the term and the meaning of Conservatism has been diluted, watered down, and for the most part is not what it once was.

Donald Trump may not fit the description of conservative but he is a pragmatic person who understands reality better than any professional politician. Which may explain the rise of the outside non-professional like Trump and the others. People are simply tired of the lies and hypocrisy.

That is not necessarily true.

There have been many plan spoken people in history who have made it have had great historical moments in history.

Abraham Lincoln was not the best looking man in history nor a great speaker or writer, but his Gettysburg address is one of the greatest speeches the world has ever known.

Being anointed by God beats out being or having “ Charisma ( as we know the word and meaning of the word charisma today ) “ any day.

Bill Clinton had “ Charisma “ and look where it has gotten us.

Charisma can some times be a trap.

The media, anti-God, anti christian culture of today has hijacked the Christian term “ Charisma “ and has perverted with their own meaning of it and their own standards.

The Greek word Kharisma has the meaning of favors bestowed, gift of grace, favors freely given.

It was originally a Christian term until the secular world perverted it into the meaning of what we know Charisma today is.

Jim Jones of the Jonestown cult was very charismatic, who had “ Charisma “

Many women have been fooled by men who have “ Charisma “

The gift of discernment is a great blessing from God for those who have it and use it.

All that glitters is not gold.

Lucifer who comes as a angel of light appeals to those who are attracted by things that appeal to the senses.

Donald Trump may not fit the description of conservative but he is a pragmatic person who understands reality better than any professional politician.

Trump understands it so well that in 2008 he was an enthusiastic supporter of Barack Obama, and in 2013 -- only two short years ago -- helped put former DNC chairman and former campaign director for both Bill & Hillary Clinton, Terry McAuliffe, into the Virginia governor's mansion.

That is a reality that I understand. DO YOU?

What I mean by charisma is, I think, a pretty ordinary meaning of the word. People who have charisma have the ability to talk to and really communicate with others. That is not a common ability—how many of us would be able to take a radio microphone and make a 30+ year career out of simply talking to people, tens of millions of people, every day? Rush did it, but I don’t know anyone with that level of charisma. People who are charismatic also know how to “read” other people really well.

When I look at a candidate, I look at him holistically. He may have the best message in the world, he and I might agree on 99% of the issues, but if he does not have that charismatic ability to communicate with people, he is not going anywhere in an election. I have seen dozens of candidates that fit that description in the last few decades—great messages, great platforms, the communicative ability of a gnat.

Charismatic people also get things done, because they know how to communicate. When I look at Trump, I see someone who can get things done—building a financial empire from nothing is not a trivial matter. In order to do that, he had to know how to communicate, how to find the right person for the job, etc. Those are qualities we need in a president, especially since that corrupt Washington culture will oppose any president who threatens its power and influence.

Given a choice between a candidate who shares 94% of my views (e.g. Cruz) but can get hardly anything done because he lacks the charisma and fortitude to do it, or a candidate who only shares 73% of my views (e.g. Trump) but who is charismatic enough to get things done, I will gladly vote for the one who can get things done.

Yes, Bill Clinton was reportedly charismatic. I saw him only as a manipulative psychopath, which means whatever charisma he had was totally false. The ability to recognize psychopaths is not universal; if more people had that skill, Clinton would have never been elected. In addition, because so much of the electorate cannot tell the difference between psychopathic manipulation and true charisma, the RNC didn’t even field any decent candidates against him. Dole had good ideas, but was about the most uncharismatic person imaginable. And he lost in a landslide.

Adolf Hitler was a very charismatic leader also, and got many things done.

I look at a candidate’s values, ideology, in what they believe in before anything else.

A Zebra does not change his spots over night.

Donald Trump still plays footses with the Teamsters Unions, that there alone should raise warning flags.

A Conservative willing to foresake their “ Conservative values “ for just the sake of winning ( there is no such thing as “ a sure thing “ of winning with Donald Trump ) should wake up and really check who they are, and what their true values are.

We got many here on Free Republic who are stating that issues like abortion, gay marriage do not matter, that immigration issues is more important.

JUST FREAKING INCREDIBLE !

It’s more important than unborn lives in the womb ?

That’s exactly what they did to the Jews in Europe and Nazi Germany before the war, they marginalized people of Jewish decent either as 2nd class citizens, or not human.

That is exactly what these ( atheist ) people who say that abortion issues and the gay marriage issues do not matter, they are marginalizing unborn human lives just like the Nazis did.

Yeah, Rush is a big open borders guy. Can’t listen for even a minute without him touting the USA’s need of more immigrants.
