CNN just interviewed the father of the murderer of nine people at Umpqua Community College this week, and though he claims he is not blaming guns, he spent most of the interview doing that exact thing.
"That's what guns are. The killers. It's as simple as that. It's black and white," he says. Guns are the killers. Not his son.

That is about the most stupid thing I’ve heard. Everybody knows that the students caused the shooting, if they hadn’t been at that school that day, they wouldn’t have been shot.

It has bumped up a bit in recent years thanks to a new demographic in the area. The new demographic seems to like to shoot guns and kill people. But outside the newbies, the crime rate, with all the guns, is about what it's like in European countries where guns are banned.

Here's another way to look at it: If you had done a better job as a father, it wouldn't have happened.
You must have known that your son was mentally ill. If you knew that he had guns, what did you do to get them away from him? If you didn't know, why not?

The killer’s father may be partly responsible for his son’s state of mind. He apparently fathered the killer out of wedlock, then after later marrying the killer’s mother, he divorced her abandoning her and the killer.
The killer’s mother also knew her son had deep psychological problems and she knew he had more than a dozen firearms in the apartment they shared.
They both now appear to be blaming the guns which I surmise they believe became animate killing nine (including their son) and wounding perhaps a score more.
I just love it when stupid people raise a psychopath and then blame society and inanimate objects for the problems they created.
The law that made murder illegal didn’t stop him. I must note that if all those students had not been Christians they would not be dead now. So it is their own fault they are dead. And the gun’s fault. All the guns.
What does 13 guns have to do with anything? From what I understand, his son the killer used only ONE gun in the murders. This clown is a dork.

It’s getting to the point we need to begin prosecuting those parents who did not attempt to raise their kids to respect others or this country.
