Three doctors of a Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF) hospital were killed as an air strike targeted the MSF medical facility in Afghanistan's northern Kunduz city on Saturday, the MSF said in a statement.
"Three MSF staff are confirmed dead and more than 30 are unaccounted after (MSF) trauma center in Kunduz was hit at 2:10 a. m. local time on Saturday (2140 GMT Friday) several times during sustained bombing and was very badly damaged," the statement said.
The medical team was working around the clock to do everything possible for the safety of patients and hospital staff, the statement said.
"We are deeply shocked by the attack, the killing of our staff and patients and the heavy toll it has inflicted on healthcare in Kunduz," Bart Janssens, MSF Director of Operations, said in the statement.

Thanks for posting. Not good PR for Obama.
This story says that Taliban were hiding in the hospital and killed, and that doctors were not killed. Two very different accounts of same incident from the same news outlet??

How does something like this happen? Inadequate contact between DWOB and military operations?
Like I was saying yesterday, bombing the enemy rarely works out as well as hoped.
According to the medicine sans frontiers site, they were hit 3 times. 3 staff killed, 30 unaccounted for, Patients killed and wounded.
Everywhere is now reporting: NATO says a US air strike “may have” hit a hospital run by the medical charity Doctors Without Borders in the embattled Afghan city of Kunduz, killing three staff.
he U.S. military said early Saturday morning that an airstrike in Kuduz, Afghanistan, may have accidentally damaged a Doctors Without Borders hospital in the city.
U.S. forces conducted an airstrike in Kunduz city at 2:15am (local), Oct. 3, against individuals threatening the force. The strike may have resulted in collateral damage to a nearby medical facility, U.S. Army Colonel Brian Tribus, a spokesman for U.S. Forces in Afghanistan, said in a statement forwarded to TheBlaze. This incident is under investigation.
Team Obama, varsity squad, owns this one.
As Obama says, we have become numb to all his foibles.
Gone in 60 seconds! Boom!
No doubt the consequence of the military being politically handicapped and cut short of resources.
How does something like this happen?!
Oh please. That’s easy. It’s called spoofing. You see, the USA and the UK just criticized the Russians for “using dumb bombs” that caused civilian casualties in Syria...
So the Russians spoofed our GPS system (or local lazed system) so that our bombs aimed at the Taliban hit...you guessed it...civilians in Afghanistan.
A medical facility staffed by Frenchmen.
Spy games.
lack of boots on the ground doesn’t help either.
Was thinking the same... and was also reminded of the BosniaHerzegovina strikes that were denied ground support.
Apparently Twitter is alive with pictures of said event, and quotes from the MSF Press account that 3 Doctors from Doctors Without Borders died.
I believe it happens because the current admin is on the other side.
I wonder if they were giving aid and comfort to terrorists?
I think the US said there were 16 Taliban in the hospital, and that is why it was targeted.
The US trained Afghan troops are on the ground. The have US advisors.
I don’t know. I can’t sleep, turned on the computer and this was the first story that showed up own my home page.
