Actually yes...it could happen. Without the hurricane, Asheville is looking at about 6” of rain this weekend.

I know when Ivan hit the city was devastated...

And we have had pretty much steady rain days since last week.

I would not be surprised if there was a rock slide on I40 just west of Asheville....

Triad area here. I’ll be going to TN via Virginia this weekend rather ran by I40. I’ve been on rhat road when a big section of it fell into the river.

We’ve had rain for more than a week. Heavy rain on and off yesterday. Lots of limbs down. Very windy. With the saturated ground any substantial rain is going to mean flooding and trees down with power outages.

Our front yard was covered with broken tree limbs yesterday morning and a couple of pine trees fell in our wooded area late yesterday. It will be a mess. I have food, water and gas for the generator. As long as some pine tree doesn’t fall on the house we’re good.
