Hey, Publius! thanks for that. I am listening to Callas now.
Please, if i am wrong, forgive me, but her French seems accented and her diction vowels are not good. I’ve heard Callas sing in Italian, and she is fine, but her French seems weird to me.
BTW, her Tosca is brilliant.

I just watched that production a few weeks ago. The Napoleonic costumes were a little weird, and Marguerite was depicted as a NUN (!), but otherwise, it was a good show!

“Faust” was one of the first operas that I saw live. I was stationed at Fort Lewis and went to see the Seattle Opera production in 1972. Norman Treigle played Mephistopheles.
