On CNN right now, one person is reporting that a number of military veterans were present at the community college at the time of the shooting earlier today. They report that the veterans wanted to leave the classroom to try and stop the shooter, but the staff at the college stopped them from leaving the classroom. An audio recording of the incident indicates that it took five minutes from the initial radio call for the police to engage the shooter.
i think he has been identified

I did this in the 1960s--12 miles from NYC!
I think we need, how’s that song go: Armed Christian Soldiers. marching on to war.
............but the staff at the college stopped them from leaving the classroom.
Interesting. I’d like to see video of that.
Well, the teachers were all college educated so they knew what they were doing.....
/s
.
That they were stopped by freaking admin types means they couldn’t secure the communications (every body has a freaking Cell phone) all they need was access to Command Center or whoever was running the show. Denied that and Permission (ie Lockdown) their AOO was whatever room they were in.
Prayers for the Casualties and special Prayers for the Vets that again have been denied to be the Sheepdogs that they are. Their mission in life is to protect the Sheep from the Wolf and once again Government PC BS sides with the Wolf.
(I know that not every Vet is a Sheepdog but they Know the Sheepdogs duties, they can and have carried them out)
After Action Review, Lessons Learned (If LE even Cares) should include encouraging Veterans that are Students to go on Ride Alongs and learn about the local LE and introduce themselves to as many local LE’s as possible, a little name recognition goes a long way, maybe the next time they will accept the assistance when offered.
Rant Off
The difference between this and the Charleston shooting is that we knew the aryan shooter’s name, age, photos and kindergarten records within an hour of it happening.
Police chief just said “You will not get the name of this shooter, from me. I will not give him the notoriety he desired. I encourage media/press not to mention his name, either, in the coming days”.....
...out of respect for victims and families of victims.
What difference does it make if the perp is dead?
1. No teacher/administrator would have stopped me from heading to the sound of gunfire.
2. My kids all had standing orders that if there was a lockdown in school they were to bolt past any teachers and get out to a pre-arranged location where I would meet them. We would deal with any consequences later.
Great question.
Chief said he’d NEVER say perps name....so as not to create sensationalism.
Hannity announced the name, though.
The idiocy of the standard school response to a shooter. My wife was instructed to keep students in the classroom and lock the door. Her classroom had no door thus very difficult to properly lock.
Help us all, particularly all those little sitting ducks in Americas classrooms.
***** “sounds to me like big words from small men. any one willing to run into gun fire is not going to listen to staff tell them to stop” *****
Anyone can get themselves killed, but by who? The Killer or the Cops?
Establishing communications and identity so you are not a casualty of friendly fire my be a prudent first step unless you are right on top of the action.
Since you were there, what did you do?
And if they ignored 'staff' and left anyway what would they have done? Shoot them??
IT'S A "GUN-FREE ZONE" FOR-CRYIN-OUT-LOUD!!!!!!
But not the only place!
Remember the World Trade Center?
Staff there, convinced many people who had made it all the way to the lobby to go back up!!
I vote for the mindless, clueless P.C. bureaucracy...
Yeah.
Invite him as a guest to the White House...
Yep.
I realize it’s a harsh statement, but a free society doesn’t fall victim to tyranny without structured disinformation.
Well, THIS certainly knocked Netanyahu’s anti-Iran speech off the news
