House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is pitching himself for the role of the next speaker of the House and says hes the leader who will know how to pick his battles and bring everyone to the table.
McCarthy laid out his vision for the speakership Tuesday in an interview with CNNs Jake Tapper on The Lead, saying he wouldnt shy away from a fight, but he wouldnt enter one that was futile.
Im willing to fight but I want to fight to win, McCarthy said when asked about the call by some Republicans to force a government shutdown fight in an effort to defund Planned Parenthood.
McCarthy said he supports a bottom-up approach to leading, where Republicans first put forward their policies and plans, use committees to do the groundwork, and then let that effort result in winning a vote on a policy.
(snip)
The California Republican, who is currently John Boehners No. 2, has a large base of support in his effort to win the speakership and is the clear front-runner for the position.
(snip)
He has been conducting a disciplined outreach effort to recruit support for his run, and hes positioning himself as an inclusive leader.
(snip)
He continued to say that the culture hed set as speaker is that everybody gets a voice even the opposing side.

Kevin is now a confirmed liar... and with such ease.
It is incredible that this adulterer thinks he has any business being speaker or that anyone would support him. He is the worst of GOPe and should instead be asked to resign from Congress.s
Win for who? Democrats, that’s who.
His “base of support” is made up of Boehner’s cronies, who don’t want to change a damned thing.
Deja vu all over again?
Is Member of Republican Leadership Kevin McCarthy Having An Affair With Rep. Renee Ellmers?
Yep. Far too many supposedly conservative congressmen are not conservatives at all. They vote for guys like this and then meekly play to their base by speaking and voting in a different direction.
what’s the difference between majority leader and speaker?
Dem lite?
Boehner lite?
McCarthy is not the answer, and if the party establishment tries to foist this clown upon us then we will continue to buck the establishment within the GOP.
Ya want this idealogical war to ccontinue?
McCarthy will do just that.
I can’t help but laugh at all politicians when they use the term “fight”, “I’ll fight for this, I’ll fight for that, I’ll fight to win, etc., etc.. IF they fail to fight to WIN, why the hell get into a fight in the first place. Most of that is pure rhetoric anyway.
Kabuki Theatre. Hey, Kevin, if you have to SAY that you’ll fight, you’ve already lost. A true fighter doesn’t have to ‘prove’ it with words.
F.A. Hayek wrote about politicians who say they will “fight” for you. It means that the government is taking your money, and the politician is promising to go to the capital and get pork for his state or district.
The answer, of course, is for the government not to take the money in the first place.
The Establishment has not learned a DAMN thing!
Speaker of the House.
Majority Leader.
One heads the entire House.
The other heads the majority party.
NOW I get it. took a while to sink in :)
boehne did a terrible job of leading the whole house.
are they trying to replace him with another rino?
The Republican Playbook is nothing more than a collection of cliches.
Meaningless
And she’s not even that good looking. If you’re gonna sin, at least go all out.
McCarthy appears to fit that definition.
