Ted Cruz: ‘Republican Leadership Leads The Onslaught Attacking Conservatives’
Breitbart ^ | 9/28/15 | Kate McCugh

Posted on 09/28/2015 6:26:34 PM PDT by VinL

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz slammed Republican leadership on Monday for slavishly serving the interests of major corporations — and worse, leading attacks from the Left on its conservative grassroots base.

The Democrats are “relentless” in pursuing their principles, Cruz said, which include ever-increasing government spending and unlimited abortion rights. They’re “willing to crawl over broken glass with a knife between their teeth to fight for their principles,” Cruz said.

Republican leadership “reflexively surrenders,” Cruz said. “President Obama simply has to utter the word shutdown and Republican leadership runs for the hills.”

Cruz explained three types of votes take place in the Senate: “show votes,” a limp-wristed attempt to placate voters by staging a pre-ordained surrender to Democrats; votes that simply grow government; “must-pass” votes that include continuing resolutions, appropriations bills, and debt ceiling raises.

The Texas senator compared GOP leadership to an NFL coach that declares “we forfeit” at every single coin toss. The “clean” continuing resolution rubberstamps Obama’s hard-left agenda.

“It funds 100 percent of Obama’s agenda, executive amnesty, Obamacare, the Iran nuclear deal. It is essentially a blank check to Barack Obama,” Cruz said.

“How is it that Speaker Boehner can promise there would never be a shutdown? Because I believe Speaker Boehner has cut a deal with Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) 9% ,” Cruz said. He believes Boehner plans to cling to his Speakership for another month in order to ram through a spending deal (snip)

In a post here earlier on FR, it appears the light as finally lit with Limbaugh:

“The point is, Ted Cruz was aware of all of this, and he decided there was no way since he’s so vastly outnumbered in the Senate that what he instead did was work with the conservative members in the House to strength them, to focus them. Not that they needed it, but just to form some unity and have a coordinated effort that was aimed at Boehner’s resignation, since Cruz was not gonna be able to engineer a similar thing in the Senate because HE WAS BASICALLY A PARTY OF ONE.

So there’s any number of people who you might... If you want to consider this in a doling-out-of-credit sense, Cruz is right there at the top (for Boehner’s resignation).”

******************
Yes, Cruz is a party of one- we’ve said it here before- he’s the 3rd party constitutional conservative running in the GOP primary.

" Republican leadership “reflexively surrenders,” Cruz said."

That is one of the reasons why RINO's advertize themselves as Conservative to get re-elected
and yet , when they return to Washington, they vote 'flaming liberal'
and why they are now running scared !

This speech by Sen Cruz maybe the finest I have ever heard by any politician, bar none. Absolutely brilliant in its composition, inclusive of the facts, succinct ,taken the breadth of the subject matter and mesmerizing by one of the finest speakers in the history of government. If you have a chance to listen to the entire hour please do so,you will not be dissapointed. And please take note that there are not two squares of polyglass situated conveniently on both sides of his lectern

Great speech. I’m guessing that there are 2 or 3 pages in the room listening. At least it is on the net now where we can see it.

That was a fantastic speech. I would like to have seen the camera pan occasionally to see who was listening.

I bet a few Republican senators were a little uncomfortable.

Yes, it is one hour long but, believe me, you will be transfixed and won’t be able to turn it off.

At about the 45 minute mark Cruz mentions something about Boehner but doesn’t go into detail. I found this on the net:

When asked about Mr Cruz’s presidential candidacy, Mr Boehner replied with an obscene gesture.

“If you’re looking for someone to go to Washington to go along to get along - to agree with the career politicians in both parties who get in bed with the lobbyists of special interests, then I ain’t your guy,” Mr Cruz said during the first Republican presidential debate in August.

Cruz is a master. I’m guessing he had it planned this way. At the end of the speech he is talking about how the elected Republicans don’t do what they are elected to do, and says “no wonder the American people don’t understand why leadership isn’t listening to them.” Right as he ends that sentence the leader taps his gavel and says his time is up.

Cruz asks for an extension of his speaking time.

He doesn’t get it.

Then he concludes - with a sad voice, something like: “The Democrats here refuse to listen to me any longer - just like Democratic and Republican leadership refuses to listen to the American people....I yield the floor.”
