At the UN General Assembly, Russian President Vladimir Putin says that President Obama needs to learn the lessons of history before intervening internationally, because "certain episodes from the history of the Soviet Union, social experiments for export, attempts to push for changes with other countries based on ideological preferences... often lead to tragic consequences."
"It seems that far from learning from the mistakes of others, everyone keeps repeating them," Putin said. "And so the export of revolutions, this time of so-called democratic ones, continues. It was enough to look at the situation in the Middle and North Africa."
"But how did it actually turn out? Rather than bringing about reforms and addressing foreign interference, it resulted in a brazen destruction of national institutions and lifestyles. Instead of the triumph of democracy and progress, we got violence, poverty and social division. And nobody cares about about human rights, including the rights to life."

oh yea , I hate to say it , but I am more impressed with Putin than my own ‘president ‘
Obama has never grown up . It’s always about him , as he lectures and schools the world . While glancing from side to side, reading his teleprompter and doing his Mussolini impressions . He’s an idiot .
This is startling
I agree with a former hardcore KGB communist Russian than with the president of my country.
He sees what these damn islamists are up to and acts to stop it. Our guy? Not so much.
Well I was not privy to the intelligence reports. I assumed we went where the terror groups were. I can imagine no other reason. It certainly was not with the idea of exporting democracy.
Yeah, the W thingy. It is a little bit cloudy to me at this point, but wasn’t it sold to us on the premise that he was killing his own people, had weapons of mass destruction and helped to fund terrorism. It was not about exporting democracy.
Still, there is the issue of the hole that is left that must be filled. Had we not left under the Obama administration we would likely be seeing a completely different situation. That does not mean it was a good idea. It does mean that it did not have to become the disaster it has become.
Do you suppose Putin even senses the irony in his words?
Yeah. He probably misses the hands on work...while Obama has never gotten his own hands directly dirty.
Ouch!
No wonder bongo is pissed off.
Exactly right.
Maybe it’s me, but I don’t hear Putin calling for World Communism (or any Communism, for that matter). He seems to not really care what systems of government other countries use, providing they don’t threaten Russia, Russian interests, or ethnic Russians living in what are now other countries.
Perhaps I’m wrong...if so I’d appreciate some examples.
From everything ive seen it looks like hes a hardcore nationalist and his only concern is the interest of russia which is what a leader of a nation should do
Yea, I was going ask what’s wrong with a leader that actually CARES about his country. You answered...nothing!
Very interesting speech by Putin. Thanks for posting.
Ha, welcome back!
The Bush duo should have taken his advice.
