A controversial position, to say the least.

OK Trump, what happens to the US and the Free World when Russia trumps you and begins funding ISIS?

We want to get ISIS. Russia’s in Syria. Maybe we should let them do it? Let them do it.

Can't argue with that. And if the end result is no more ISIS, and increased Russian influence in Syria...I could live with that. And the local Christian communities could probably live with that as well.

Pertaining to Iraq, this part is likely accurate: ““And right now as you are standing here, Iraq is negotiating with Iran. They’re going to merge and Iran is going to get the oil… and the one that gets the rest of it is going to be ISIS.”

I am not voting for Trump but I do think he makes more sense on this issue than others do. I am open to correction on this. My understanding of all the particulars is limited. I admit that. This is a very complicated issue. But someone needs to wipe ISIS off the map.

George Washington -1796

“Against the insidious wiles of foreign influences (I conjure you to believe me, fellow-citizens), the jealousy of a free people ought to be constantly awake, since history and experience prove that foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government. But that jealousy, to be useful, must be impartial; else it becomes the instrument of the very influence to be avoided, instead of a defence against it. Excessive partiality for one foreign nation, and excessive dislike of another, cause those whom they actuate to see danger only on one side, and serve to veil and even second the arts of influence on the other. Real patriots who may resist the intrigues of the favorite, are liable to become suspected and odious; while its tools and dupes usurp the applause and confidence of the people, to surrender their interests.”

We had idiot McCain give arms to Isis . The entire Benghazi Ambassador fiasco was a Syrian arms deal that went bad. Its rival Tribes who have fought each other for hundreds of years.

Does anyone see the Saudis or Kuwaitis fighting Isis in Iraqi or in Afghanistan ! No.

About the only problem with that theory is that Russia is scraping the barrel since they are bogged down in Ukraine for resources to throw into Syria.

They’ll likely put in just enough for ISIS to turn into hostages for nasty executions.

Trump’s position makes MUCH MORE SENSE than our current policy...which I challenge ANYONE HERE to explain.

As best that I can see, Obama sees 3 sides in Syria: Assad, ISIS, and a handful of college kids that call themselves the “Democratic Opposition” and promise to create a Jeffersonian Democracy.

Since we hate ISIS, we are bombing them. But we also hate Assad, so we’re not helping him (i.e., not coordinating military operations with him) as we want him to also lose.

So we want ISIS and Assad to BOTH LOSE, and with that the handful of college kids march into Damascus, build a replica of the Washington Monument, and all sides live in peace and love for ever more.

That’s my take and why Putin simply siding with Assad makes A LOT MORE SENSE TO ME...but I’m willing to listen to others, if they think they can explain our policy there.

He’s right.

Obama has created chaos in the Mideast - Iraq, Libya, Egypt, Syria have been turned on their heads. I have no idea what his policy on ISIS is. With him in charge, calling for intervention is absolutely nuts.

Assad is the least bad option there is. If the Russians want to fight ISIS with their own troops, let them.

Isn't it about time we let someone else go to war for a change? Haven't we funded and refunded enough wars? Haven't we lost enough people in wars?

If Russia wants to eliminate ISIS, let them...but do we always have to be the one to go in and fight?

We went in after 9/11 and look at that mess today..how has that worked out for us? Look at the wounded warriors we have, the vets with ptsd, and everything else...

It's time we take care of America, or your going to wake up some morning and there isn't going to be an America!

We should definitely let Russia and ISIS slug it out. That’s a splendid place to start this party.

I never understood why so many want to get rid of Assad after the disaster that followed getting rid of Mubarak and Khadafy.

I love how he went after the idiot Fio-RINO’s “send out the 6th Fleet” comment from the debate. He is 100% right. We got NOTHING out of all the dead and the trillions spent for the Bush Crime Family in Iraq. We killed the wrong guy. We toppled the wrong government. Now the Chinese and Iranians will benefit while we get bupkis.

It’s not controversial to me

Our policy thru all the bs Arab springs to Syria and leaving Iraq to enabling Iran have all been stupid

Assad was at least willing to fight Daesh....but no we allied with warring factions while Daesh got stronger

We are naive about the fact that sometimes dictators suit our interests

Trump gets it

Pinochet

Stroessner

Somoza

Marcos

Peacock Shah

Trump woulda figured we were better off ditching noble foolishness

It would seem that the self styled master negotiator is willing to give Russia and China what they want without anyhing in return. Something is being left on the table.
