President Barack Obama says freedom of religion isn't a reason to deny Americans their constitutional rights.
Obama appeared to be referring to Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. Davis said such unions violated her religious beliefs.

Uh... hey obungles... show us where exactly homosexuals have special rights. Show us where in the Constitution it says gays have the right to use their union, which almost no one has an issue with, to call it ‘marriage’.
This is what the libs don’t get. There is almost no one saying they can’t legally be in a union. The problem is only when they want to call it ‘marriage’.
Sorry gays. That word is already taken for use between a man and a woman. You need to find a different word. Maybe hijack another word like you did with ‘gay’.
The problem here isn’t anyone objecting to a gay union. The problem is gays wanting to poke the religious right in the eyes with their power in the political arena.
The pendulum will always swing both ways eventually.
Methinks the gays are not going to like it when gay marriage is found to be unconstitutional.

"President Barack Obama says [the constitutional right of] freedom of religion isn't a reason to deny Americans their constitutional rights." His statement doesnt make sense. In fact, seemingly with the confidence of childlike self-deception hes essentially arguing that PC rights which the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect, so-called rights that activist justices have wrongly legislated from the bench, trump constitutionally enumerated rights.
To: markomalley
Why do we even listen to Obama anyhow? He doesn't give a sh*t about the Constitution or any rights except those he approves of. He is a domestic enemy.
Forget the Trojan Horse of Syrian "migrants". The Trojan Horse is already inside the gates and in control of the country.

He thinks Islam has been part of the American fabric, American story, words to that effect, from colonial days. I suppose, in a way, this is true.
The people who founded this Nation, having come from countries that had been at War with Islam for a thousand years, had woven in their fabric that Islam was evil.

Even the for-bearers of political theory would conclude the right to give a willing partner a rectal prolapse has no moral reasoning under legal positivism. Even John Rawls (Socialist favorite) would conclude that rectal prolapses causes harm to society because treating the prolapses which occurred under the guise of free will, cost resources to be used against the will of others (Medical care if severe). Also STDs/cervical cancer.

Even the for-bearers of political theory would conclude the right to give a willing partner a rectal prolapse has no moral reasoning under legal positivism. The interesting point of the philosophy of legal positivism is that moral absolutes have no bearing on the law, rather the law is the law because society (government, the courts) say it is the law.
Neither William Blackstone, Aristotle, nor Cicero would approve.

*Even* philosophers who do not push absolutes would find homosexual relations (As being associated with reason unless they were being dishonest) acceptable behavior that benefits society.
That is why homosexual acts were considered situational (Ancient Greece/Roman philosophy), not natural.

In the end legal positivism = tyranny of a fickle majority.
Legal positivism has no fundamental essence of establishing/defining justice and virtue which are the building blocks of a prosperous (Materialism plays a very minor part) society.

Agreed, but you must acknowledge that our current jurisprudence is based upon this positivism (along with a healthy dose of utilitarianism)

He said what? Doesnt he know freedom of religion IS a constitutional right? He IS a constitutional scholar, right? No, he's an affirmative action imbecile. Had he been white, he wouldn't have been good enough to get into Harvard. Or Columbia. Or Occidental.
He would be flipping burgers somewhere as befits his skill set.
